Shadows Over Innistrad Features A New Dual Sided Planeswalker
March 16, 2016 by deltagamegirl22
Just when I thought the upcoming new set for Magic the Gathering, Shadows Over Innistrad, couldn't get any more cool... in walks Arlinn Kord, the newest dual sided planeswalker.
And if the fact that she's a dual sided planeswalker doesn't make her your favourite new card in this upcoming set, perhaps the fact that she's a dual sided, planeswalker, WEREWOLF will get your attention!
Yes, I said werewolf, and what's even better, is that her abilities really lend themselves to functioning like a proper two-sided card- allowing a flip, or "transformation" to happen more than once in a game. With this double sided action, Arlinn actually has five different planeswalker abilities.
Her human side features...
- +1: Until end of turn, up to one target creature gets +2/+2 and gains vigilance and haste.
- 0: Put a 2/2 green Wolf creature token onto the battlefield. Transform Arlinn Kord.
Her werewolf side offers a fantastic three more...
- +1: Creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain trample until end of turn.
- -1: Arlinn, Embraced by the Moon deals 3 damage to target creature or player. Transform Arlinn, Embraced by the Moon.
- -6: You get an emblem with “Creatures you control have haste and ‘[T]: This creature deals damage equal to its power to target creature or player.
I don't know about you, but I cannot wait to try out this interesting, new planeswalker.
What do you think of Arlinn Kord?

New planeswalker eh? Nice. She does not seem too bad but only time will tell if she is used in decks by pro players and thus get wide use by everyone else who follows those pro players and what cards they use.
Don’t care about pro players. This is a cool card and she comes in my favorite color combo.
I dropped out of Magic after the last Innistrad set. This tempts me to get back in. If only I had better luck drawing special cards.
Well it’s a mythic card, so you are relying on a bit of luck to get it. If you wanted to buy yourself a version, then unless she is incredibly bad (Tibalt!), then it’s going to cost you. The card type (i.e. planeswalker) just generally seems to add a chunk to the cost; a planeswalker tax if you will. I don’t think there’s much wrong with her; she can help you when you’re behind (creates a token which can be used to block), and helps you if you have the advantage already (allows creatures to attack that can still block).… Read more »
I have definitely found that though not cheap, buying a box (or 2) is the way to go in terms of having your best chances at finding the mythics and rares you’re looking for. It’s interesting that Oath of the Gatewatch was perhaps the least popular set in a while- at least with the least overall card value, and yet it was the best 2 boxes I’ve ever opened. I did REALLY well, including 2 Expedition lands (one being a Wasteland) and a foil Nissa. I’m very much looking forward to this set as far as theming goes. There’s nothing… Read more »
