Some great kits there but my heart belong to the Phoenix

Of all the ones even nominated, the Phoenix is the only one I have. When it is all done, it is a beautiful piece. It took watching a video and staring at the online instructions for a while to make sure I was getting the right feathers in the right place though. Final product was worth the effort,

I’m going to get behind the Cultists here, they’re a much more versatile kit than the other three, which are kind of niche products to me, either by expense or by the fact they’re one pose models you’re using them basically for what it says on the tin, the cultists are your villains(and even a few suitable as heroes) in pathfinder/D&D, an extra regiment in Kings of War, a Mordhiem warband, conversion fodder for scifi games, and probably a few other things before you even crack the spine on the frostgrave rulebook.

Placing my bet on the Frostgrave Cultists.

It’s going to sound glib but there are good models and bad models. Hand sculpted vs CAD is almost beside the point.

Anyhow, it has to be the Warlord – even though I’ll never own one.

I’m all for vats of resin… in a warehouse somewhere else where they can deal with the fumes appropriately. And… I don’t remember who I voted for? Go Pheonix!

Pity no Warlord BA models made it.

Don’t know how the Frostgrave Cultists got there. I think they are actually not that good a sculpt. But then again its not about the best sculpt but the best model kit. So that has to be the Warlord Titan.

The warlord titan is just impressive (on the price as well)

Cultists! Adaptable, fun, far more affordable than some, overall give good VFM, value for money.

The battle between hand-sculpted and CAD has already been won, and hand-sculpted is going to the way of the of the record. As well as the benefits mentioned in the video, it allows freelancers to electronically send sculpts rather than having to post them through the mail, it makes it much easier for a range to have consistent scale, it greatly speeds up the sculpting of units as they can re-posed and tweaked a bit, any changes can easily be made, and the sculpt can be re-used for a subsequent version of the model. CAD sculpting is also a lot… Read more »

I think I am in for the Titan ……. The Kindom death Model is bloody impressive too and could also get up (even though the range isn’t to my taste) … personal choice not value judgement implied

I think the Phoenix is a good bet and as a back up I would go the way of the titan.

I bet the Titan wins but I’d like to see the cultists win.

Interesting that Fangtooth is in there, it’s a one part mini I seem to think, is that really a “kit”?
Also the Nexus Grunt is an interesting one, as no one has yet gone their hands one one. It does look great though.
The cultists win it for me, great multi part kits, well priced and very functional.

CAD does work, also for organics. But sculptors need to avoid the capital sin of just mirroring half a model and then neglecting to do anything more to it, as happened with the recent Age of Sigmar Dwarf.
The tool is just a way to increase efficiency. the artist should deliver the artistry.
