Pulp City Gen Con Announcements
August 8, 2010 by warzan
Ever wanted to run your own band of super heroes? Pulp City is your game, and boy oh boy are the miniatures lookers in this game. Another game that's shot right to the top of our list of stuff to check out, I can see we have a lot of work to do over the next few months getting deeper into these games!
Pulp Cities online shop is closed until September but it looks like models are supplied as painted?
On the plus side, it appears they have everything else you need availible to download.
Nope the Pulp City models are not pre-painted.
Just a quick tapping of “pulp city miniatures” into google images should throw up a few pictures of them in the bare metal if youre wanting a look.
Correct. All Pulp City miniatures come unpainted. The hardcover full color book is set to release next month.
first reading the article description i was a bit hesitant, but after listening to the representative, that actually sounds like it could be a pretty damn fun game. Especially once they release the monsters & associated results. I look forward to what comes out of pulp city games!
Pulp City has been growing on me since I first looked at them many months ago. Superhero skirmish games aren’t very common but there are enough rules sets and different miniature companies doing figures for it to be a pretty interesting and competative area of wargaming. Certainly when it comes to presentation online, in their support, in packaging and in the books Pulp City seem to put the most effort in, though this is reflected slightly in their prices which are a little bit higher than some of the other companies if I remember right. I really like the sound… Read more »
This is the first i have heard of Pulp City.
I like the sound and look of it very much. Me thinks my credit card will suffer with all the Gen Con coverage been this good 🙂
There is a Pc game called Freedom Force(very cool game) and if Pulp City plays like it it could be a lot of fun. It seems up to now they have Fixed Heroes and Villains. Hmmm wouldnt it be cool to have a doItyourself Hero/Villain kit, to make your own Char and equip it like a char in Warhammer or stuff like that, with a list of Powers to choose from?
Currently all Supremes are fixed. They do have a certain amount of customization in terms of resources that you can give to a Supreme. The rules that will be out next month will have your own create your own minion rules.
This is a great game and you wont find anyone more passionate about miniatures and the hobby than Maciej (Morf).
We invite all of you to come on over to the Pulp City forums and create an account and join in the discussions.

I guess it’s time to stop being a lurker on Beasts of War. . . Pulp City is a fantastic game. It is great to have some very non-standard miniatures to use and not have to drudge through painting countless numbers of rank and file troops. I discovered it at GenCon 2008 and have played ever since. I am VERY excited about the full rulebook coming out. The ability to make your own minions (henchmen/sidekicks) makes incorporating other minis you already have (or have been looking for a reason to buy) very easy!
I’ve been into Pulp City since 2008, but have only been really active in the community since April of this year – and I have to say they are the best bunch of guys you could wish for to work with. The Game itself is excellent, simple to learn but with such a vast array of options its hard to master! The miniatures are cleanly cast, and the collectability factor (as in must have them now LoL) is very high because the background is so evocative and the sculpts are so damn good. I have collected/played a LOT of games… Read more »
I checked out Pulp City back in 2008 (first appearance at Gen Con?) since I knew Maciej from the old Confrontation days. He led a friend and I through a demo game. As soon as he showed us how a Supreme could throw a car at another Supreme, we were sold! Since then, the rules have been very much streamlined and now there are many more things you can do with the game, such as creating your own Minions, smash a Supreme up close and personal with the scenery, and pull of your Master Plan! I’m loving this game!
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Pulp City game wise. May people feel that while it lacks the “create your own hero” aspect of Supersystem (though you can create your own henchmen) it is a much smoother game to actually play than SS.
And hey we are all creative people, it’s not difficult to look at the Supremes and the Villains, check out the statcards and lists of skills, get all the players together and come up with some of your own that you all agree are balanced, or more importantly are cool to play with.
Well, Beermonkey has given the “build your own supreme” a run through on the Pulp City board with some great guidelines. Post your own ideas and get some feedback. Several people have done so and will continue to do so.
Look for those Monsters in the future so get ready to build your team to take it down!
Will do.

Hey guys glad to hear people liking the game. Everything you’ve heard from Varagon, Doctor-Warlock, Totengraber etc… is all true. The minions are totally customizable, build anything you can imagine. Robot Apes, Mutant Zombie dog birds, anything. Rules are simple and very straightforward without being complicated. You can play an average game with 4 Supremes on a side in under an hour with out new rules. Add about 30 mins if you are using unfamiliar Supremes. I’m working on the annual now. Let me just say that the Monster in Pulp City will be as customizable if not more so… Read more »
