Knight Models Begin Pre-Orders For Their Marvel Universe Game

Knight Models have now given us a release date for their Marvel Universe Miniatures Game and that means pre-orders are up now. February 24th seems to be the date when all of this will hit the table so see what's on offer right now...
Starter Sets
Kicking things off we have the Starter Sets which we've known about for a while. We have the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men.
I think that while I really like the X-Men team (especially with that version of Rogue from the cartoon series in the 199os) I have to plump for the Avengers with their awesome versions of Thor and Captain America. The urge to paint up the X-Men though is very tempting...maybe I'll just buy both?
In addition each team comes with...
"It also contains a small-sized rulebook with thirty-six pages full of rules! Each starter rulebook has a specific mission to play with your faction!"
...now that is pretty good stuff.
Heroic Extras
In addition to the Starter Sets they have also added some heroes to the factions which can be used to bolster your crew. Of course it wouldn't be an Avengers team without Black Panther considering the new movie coming out soon.
...of course this week also welcomes the Merc with the Mouth to the silver screen and one of the best models Knight Models have ever made. See what you make of Deadpool.
Last but not least we have Nova for the X-Men who I only really know of through the Dice Masters Avengers dice game. He certainly has a nice looking model though.
Now we just need to wait for some more characters and of course Hulk. I can't wait for the scenario where you're fighting against Hulk who has gone on a rampage where he acts as a force unto his own.
Will you be getting into this?

If I was to play this I’d want to use Doctor Doom – that way when I lose I can claim that I didn’t really lose, it was a Doombot that lost ;P

Richard Rider Nova! Oh hell yeah! Guess I’ll be grabbing the Guardians of the Galaxy starter as well as my planned X-Men one just so I can use him!
Guardians of the Galaxy for me. But to be honest I was hoping for Groot. Oh well.
I’m sure he won’t be far around the corner as a model. Same for Hulk coming back for the Avengers!

It would be the X-men for me if I was going to get into this game. With a few more X=men and Deadpool, that would be a cracking team up.
A toss up between the Avengers and X-Men for me. Not sure about these movie interlopers in the other starter…
This is really intriguing me, only big issue I can see that is separating my wallet from this game is the scale. True, it’s probably the best scale for this type of game but I really don’t have time to build 35mm scenery…..why this is not 28? 🙁
I like Nova and Deadpool. Cracking paintjobs on all minis naturally.
Anyone know if they’ve stated anywhere if they’ll do stat cards separate for people that all ready own some of the models?

But i don’t think they will sell them seperatly. You will have to print them yourself.

I most likely will buy figures as a collection; I do not see myself getting into the game in the near future. Not saying it isn’t worth it, purely saying I have stretched myself to thin with a plethora of games already.
unfortunately no U.S. retailers have information for pre-orders yet.
My guess is that the ones that carry the Batman Miniatures game will carry this one. They are just a month behind on releases.
Ok actually my hope is that they will be carrying the game. 🙂
why would they carry it if the local community can buy it from the UK a month earlier?
as a store owner would you even support a game if you knew most players had bought it elsewhere?
True, but I’m willing to wait a month if it cuts on the shipping. I’ve also heard the KM is working on getting a US distributor, so hopefully that will cut down on the time.
Seeing Nova there really makes me hope it’ll be possible to build a team of flarking Annihilators: Nova, Beta Ray Bill, Ronan, Silver Surfer, Quasar, Gladiator? Hells yes. Maybe a Space Knight of your choosing? Or perhaps just the chance to be havink a certain telepathic Russian dog?
It’s the x-men for me as that was the comic I collected as a kid.
In a way I’m glad I never picked up any Marvel models previously. There are some great re-releases in these packs, along with the new figures like Rogue and Colossus…and the new Black Widow!
I hope to see some villains out soon, not to mention Groot for the Guardians. Or the original Guardians…I read that comic from issue #1 back in the 90s.
