She looks well travelled and as if she doesn't take a lot of nonsense. I'm sure she's played in many a tavern and faced off against burly bruisers. I always loved the idea of Bards with their knowledge of the world and cheeky nature. A rapier/sabre seems like a great choice for a swashbuckler.
