Skybound Talk The Walking Dead: All Out War & Show Off Game Contents!
January 23, 2016 by brennon
Skybound Entertainment have teamed up with Mantic Games for The Walking Dead: All Out War so it's fantastic to see them getting stuck into the game with a Q&A which not only answered a lot of questions about the game but also showed off the contents!
One of the big things about this is seeing all the additional components that you get as part of the set. I think the production quality is looking superb for this and Mantic really have pulled out all the stops. The character art, drawn from the comics, matches perfectly with the rest of the aesthetic and I could see this being a very appealing project on Kickstarter.
In addition to that we got some close up looks at some of the components like said Character Cards.
Here you can see Rick front and centre. After playing Dead of Winter I've been rather taken with these games where a lot of the focus for the game is on the people rather than the zombie hordes. It looks like there's going to be a lot of character driven action in the game from what we're seeing here.
As well as that we actually got a look at the sculpt for Rick...
...and you can see the painted version over on the Q&A page linked at the top of this story.
Are you looking forward to this game?

Mantic is saying that 20 models come in the box, but the picture only shows 18, lol. I guess not all are showing?
I haven’t backed a kickstarter in years but this has me excited.
One of my favorite things in miniature games is creating my own characters and groups. personalizing them as my own really helps with immersion as i create my own stories with them. interesting sounding game but maybe a little too character driven. I think it would be fun to have some generic survivors equipped how i want and not only being able to play as pre-made cgaracters. I’d love to create my own groups and see how they fair against the odds as opposed to only playing as already named characters. What do you do when everybody wants to be… Read more »
Zed or Alive had me nearly two years ago – and still does. The expansion book they sell is based on a slick set of rules, (which are free – Showdown if you’re interested), and allows characters to develop and grow. Noise levels are crucial as louder noises are likely to attract more Zombies. Mantics Dreadball series is great, Kings of War is getting better, but I’m mot enjoying anything else they make anymore. Warpath is downright odd and dungeon saga just doesn’t tick any of the right boxes for me. I love TWD, but this does not appealvas much as… Read more »
You said it. When I first heard about the project I was excited. Hoping for frostgrave in the walking dead universe. Downtime between missions, custome groups, a campaign of my survivors set in TWD universe but my worries of it being only about TWD characters just doesn’t appeal to me as much as I thought. I will give it the benefit of the doubt though and I’ll give it a fair chance but now I’m a little worried.
I do look forward to see what the rules will be like.. I know thee is a simple character design simple in the rules, but like to have that fleshed out… also I like some “downtime” in between missions, healing wounds, mental breakdowns, finding a base etc… Being a Mantic system It be easy to do, but would like the rules in the book. Maybe a add on pack..?
I`m guessing I can play my Z-Nation games with this and how about Resident Evil ?
Look forward to see a demo game.
Anybody have any idea when this might be?
This is starting to look very interesting. I was a bit skeptical at first. I do like Mantic but some of the minis they’ve produced wouldn’t be to my taste. Looks like that may be changing though.
Agree with Shyvax – would love to see a few Demo games, played out on camera would be good to get better feel for the whole thing.
the figures look good.
Afraid I’m disappointed by Ricks model. As the mainstay of the group I was hoping for something special. I didn’t get it. Sorry Mantic.
My problem and it is mine not mantics is; I don’t know the comics only the TV series, thus none of the main characters look like the people I know……This Rick Grimes is not Rick Grimes to me he’s a bloke with an axe.
I may just look at obtaining the rules the miniatures look nice but they’re just not WD to me.
There’s an easy way to fix that 😉

@bigdaddio – I suspect that come the KS then there’ll be a couple of additional models (perhaps the mentioned Michonne and Tyreese?) as an appetiser…
…and that’s before the stretch goals kick in…
genious 🙂
I was under the impression, from Mantics blogs, that this would not be a ks. No idea why…..
I thought the same that this was not on KS, can someone who actually knows please confirm as I hate KS and have sworn never again.
It was confirmed on Mantics Facebook page that it is a KS with a single pledge level and it’s taking place in Feb.
It’ll hit retail around the same time it goes to backers so no need to back the KS to get hold of a copy.
This will be the 1st Kickstarter I ever back. I read the comic and enjoy the show very much. Looking forward to it going live! Grrr arg!
Mantic have confirmed the start date as February 1st at 1:30pm GMT, ending February 29th.
Just the one pledge level, which will contain the entire first wave of releases, with some add on expansions if this goes big.
They predict that wave 1 (base game, freebies and stretch goal rewards added to main pledge) could ship in August if all goes to plan. If the KS goes big, they will look to create 2 or 3 expansions as well, which would be available as add-ons and would ship at a later date. I am going to be watching this one, mainly because I don’t have a zombie game in my collection, and I’m liking the look of the minis. I like the fact they are gong with grey plastic this time and the same material as Dungeon Saga… Read more »
