Avatar Of War’s Plastic Marauders Of The Apocalypse Go To Battle
January 20, 2016 by brennon
A brand new regiment of Avatars Of War plastics has hit the webstore for those followers of the Apocalypse. See what you think of these Marauders for Warthrone and hand weapons and shields ready to sunder armour!
Inside the set you get enough components to build sixteen Marauders with optional extras to create the commend element for the warband too. I think the models are looking chunky, mean and incredibly nasty - just what you want in a band of Marauders from the north.
While I do like they big chunky armour and bodies some of the models do look a little clunky when you see them trying to swig these massive weapons. However I think with the right posing you could tweak these to look great when ranked up and individually.
Will these make it into your next army?

Now we just have to wait for Mantic to make “not-chaos” rules :3
well you could use kingdom of men, or the Shattered Clans list, or hell if its for kings of war count em as orcs
they’re already out Varangur in the uncharted realms book
I think I’ve been living under a rock.
that’s alright, we’re here to help.
Nice looking models but I wish AoW would make them available in smaller quantities. Not everyone needs entire units of models these days. These would make great barbarians for Frostgrave if available in packs of 1-4. Bring back the days where even basic troops were available in blister packs.
You could always buy and box, build what you need and flog the rest on eBay.
They look like GW’s latest releases… what a shame. I think these folks are capable of much better, more original work.
Gary Moreley was the sculptor
Better than the GW marauders but still the He-man Beef-Cake look look that I hate. Still waiting for the relistic lean looking tribe men.
Fireforge – they make some lovely mongols
Something that is similar to the Confrontation Drune faction?
The realism and proportions of the Confrontation Drune models is spot on, wish there was a plastic (or maybe resin) with a similar style. Totally forgot about that game (&I use to have 5 factions for it).
Oh how I wish they were still around…
There are the The Barbarians of Wasteland from Russian Alternative that are very nice looking and suitably chaotic. Unfortuantely they only seem to be available direct from Russia via their Ebay store.
I completely agree about the over muscular look, but the oversized weapons bother me more.
Those Russian Alternatives are pretty neat (are they metal or resin?). Yeah match with the weapons also, its the reason I never got any of the AoW slayer models despite wanting to replace my metal versions with some newer looking plastics.
The RA miniatures are available as resin or metal. They also seem to be producing more of their range in plastic (presumably PVC).
Size wise they appear to match up well with exisiting GW ranges, though their elves are on the small side by the looks of it.
Those do look rather good.
nice.
I like ’em, but the clunky shields, hands and weapons are a bit dated.
I’d buy a box for the heads and more chaos bits, and that nice banner.
I like these guys. Varangur for KoW here we go.
