We're back and unboxing something we've been looking forward to for a while now, it's Gates of Antares from Warlord Games.
Here we have the C3 Interceptor Squad. This box comes with three bikes and an additional droid plus custom weaponry for the bikes themselves.

Still painting up my starter set but tempted to add these later – think I’d have preferred to see them in all-plastic or all-resin, especially the riders to give you a bit more flexibility with posing. Hands/arms moulded to the handlebars is a bit restrictive…
Looks very nice! its nice to see some different shapes of jet bikes. And I agree whit John about the packing, its so much better whit some pictures of the models. Its one of the only things I hate about warmachine blister packs.
It’s a very nice looking kit but I can’t help wishing it was plastic after that very nice starter set that came out recently…
Very nice, thanks for the heads up I have these pre-ordered already 🙂 I am also going to agree with the packing issue. It is one reason that I don’t mind ordering direct. Many other companies just put the bits in a bag or clam shell when you order direct.
As you already play BA you will have no problem picking this up. The D10 is a nice switch and changes the feel of the game while leaving many of the rules the same.

I’ll definitely adding some of those C3 bikes to my Concord army.
I agree with Olliep. maybe more torsos will help with personalitation.
I also prefer the box, with art or pictures.
But I´m afraid you have to pick up two boxes. because of the HQ rule, no interceptor squads unless you have an interceptor HQ.
Am I right?.

You can add an squad, but for two or more you need to have an Interceptor HQ.

I like the way that GoA handles accessing some of the specialist troop types. You can get one squad without needing to invest too heavily, but if you want a whole Army if them you’ve got to commit to a more expensive command structure as well.
If there’s a box then there’s got to be some instructions on how to build the thing though.
It may be easy for experienced gamers to build stuff like this, but a bit of help would have gone a long way.

There’s supposed to be an order die in there as well, which is good given the core mechanic of the game relies on them.
I play Bolt Action and Gates of Antares and like both. They are similar enough you’ll be familiar with the mechanics. Gates has a rule book that is more comprehensive and I strongly suspect that the BA rule book will be the beneficiary when it’s rewritten (strongly hinted as occurring this year).
As for the interceptor squads, I plan on getting several. 🙂

Agreed about minis vs. art argument. There is an absolutely cracking piece of art in the Antares rulebook that would have been great for the box. Why not have that on the cover, and the miniatures on the back? It was a route GW took as well, always thought the artwork on the front looked better.
Like the style, but would have preferred all plastic. I am painting up my concord starter army currently and getting into the game, but there seems to be a lack of models still (not surprising given it is new). Hopefully as the new models come out they will normally be plastic.
I just can’t get into it…I like Bolt Action rules but the Antares universe and sculpts leave me cold. Truthfully these Jetbikes look like they were made 10 years ago…stiff and chunky.
