Thundering Daemonic Steeds!
August 6, 2010 by johnlyons
John has a look at the new plastic Blood Crushers of Khorne from Games Workshop. This kit is usable in either Warhammer 40k or Warhammer Fantasy. So sit back and wait for the ground to tremble under the hoofs of these metallic daemonic monsters!

the icon is a teleport homer, and the musician is an extra wound for combat resoulution, and the upgraded dude is a seargent or something
Great looking models, shame about the expensive price tag.
Incredible models, some of my favorite models that I have seen in a while! Once Mantic gets more options and more varied I’d love to see them get detail like that! As for the price point, ruffly $21 CDN per model…. I say that seems a little steep however, the quality is there and I’m just hoping that GW is trying to make enough capital to move the ranges fully into plastics with the 8th ed! Great Video John thanks again!
Honestly, can we have less prejudice against metal, there are quite a few of us here that prefer it as a medium over plastic.
I fully agree that high quality metal models can be a joy to put together and, for me at least, are nicer to paint. I’ve had some wonderful pieces from the likes of Hasslefree Miniatures and Enigma that had less mold lines than any plastic kit I’ve seen and went together with no fuss at all. Games Workshop though often leave a lot to be desired when it comes to their metals. Bad mold lines, flash, joints with little actual contact, some kind of magical glue repellent mixed into the metal…Gods I’m having the flashbacks of trying to build a… Read more »
I’ve never been a Khorne type of guy (nurgle for me) but these really do capture my attention.
May paint some up for ‘stuff’ 😉
I’m not a massive fan of the bloodletters, I know they are the “original style” from way back and I wasn’t a huge fan of the old metals the replaced either I guess just neither have matched up to my own vision of how one should look. With the new one’s it’s really only the elongated Giger esq head I’m a bit put off by really, the bodies aren’t too bad. The Juggers though…just woah…this is the first time I’ve seen these models and I really like them. I’ve always been a huge fan of the idea and style of… Read more »
As a Chaos Daemons player I’m very happy the metal models have been replaced with these new plastic. They give greater degrees of modelling, converting and are generally easier to work with. And more options in the kit. As far as I’ve seen the look and feel of the already awesome metal Juggernauts/Bloodcrushers have not gone down at all, leaving an amazing plastic kit. I certainly want some for my army! Now… as you mentioned John the Price is a bit steep. £10,8 pounds each. Despite that I still think it’s good value, GW wise that is. GW are expensive,… Read more »
While I do very much like this kit, less metal-prejudice is neccesary. GW’s drive to replace everything with extortionately priced plastics irks me a lot. Some models just feel right in metal.
Having said that, yes, this kit is lovely, and the resultant models are excellent – indeed, this is how the Bloodcrushers should really have been released in the first place.
But, as ever, the price is still too much for them. Realsitically, they should be around the £20-£25 mark, in my book. So I see myself being unlikely to buy any.
great work, just… wish they were real beasts instead of metal/mechanical
They are real beasts…well as real as any daemon. Juggers have always been brass/steel skinned behemoths with napalm for blood.
Supposedly created by the Chaos Dwarfs, so comparatable to the Hellcannon which is also very much a “real beast” despite being metal.
Hey BOW guys, new to the site and I love it but my question about the blood crushers is, can you position the legs so that they could be standing on things like stones or machines?
those are my absolute favourite models, I don’t think that there’s ever going to be another model that’s as awesome as the Juggernaut
only prob I have is the price, but I would buy only one box just to paint them and then probably without the Bloodletters (I really, really, really hate the look of the new ones, they are supposed to be followers of Khorne and look like stick-figures, it’s the same with the Daemonettes looked the best in 3rd edition)
Awesome can I have an army of these bad arses?
In 40k you can have three units and in Fantasy, you can have two units, unless you have over 3,000 points, in which case you can have 4 units of them. However, in Fantasy, they can’t take up more than 25% of your total points.
While this is an amazing looking kit, GW should have seriously considered releasing a single bloodcrusher kit as well, when i first heard about this i thought finally! something i can use as a decent Juggernaught for my fantasy Chaos lord, was a little dispointed when i saw them released like this, its alright if you play daemons but i wouldnt pay that kinda price, i love the metal models, think there great but personally prefer plastic as its much easier to model & convert with.
Demons riding rhinoceroses…how awesome, but coupled with a less than awesome price tag, my potential army based on these guys is going happen.
Thunderwolves anyone? I know that’s why i’d buy a box.
