Dungeon Saga: The Return Of Valandor Now Available From Mantic
December 15, 2015 by brennon
Mantic Games have added the first big expansion to Dungeon Saga with The Return Of Valandor. This brings in a new mighty hero, a deadly demon and a whole host of additional monsters and quests to undertake with your adventurers...
"In The Return of Valendor the cunning necromancer, Mortibris, defies death to threaten the realm once more. His foul objective is to break down the barriers between the mortal world and that of the dead. At his side stalks the long-imprisoned demon, Ba’el - a being of unfathomable evil.
To thwart this unholy allegiance, the heroes must seek out the spirit of Valendor himself, the greatest hero ever known, bringing about a confrontation of titanic proportions."
We actually did an Unboxing of the game where we went through all of the components and talked about what kind of experiences you can expect from this set. If you want to take a closer look at the miniatures themselves then see below...
I'm not such a big fan of Valandor as I think he stands a little too 'top heavy' and looks like an action figure but the rest of the models are awesome. Ba'el is an ace looking demon with his tattered wings and the rest of the undead horde are brilliant for dropping into all manner of campaigns.
Will you be braving this next adventure?

Hope they have checked for any errors in this time in the book!
There have been no compülaints about this expansion from the KS-backers (who already got it).
The problem with the Valandor Mini is that they made him Troll-Size with a Hero-size base.
Guess the scenarios would be to complicated with a 2×2 based hero.
He also has disproportionately undersized hands and feet which add to the effect.
Can’t be bothered to dig my copy out, but iirc some of the scenarios involving him have narrow corridors which the bigger minis can’t go down so he needs to be on the one square base for that to work.
The demon looks fabulous. I’d have to agree about Valandor.Definitely has an action figure vibe.
Like the overall feel, just wish these types of games would pay a little bit more to get a repose of the models they intend to give us multiples of.
To be fair to mantic, you get multiple poses of skeleton warriors and zombies, which are the enemies you’re most likely going to be facing.
Bit of hot water treatment on the duplicate minis to add a bit of variety and to straighten that noodle of a polearm – job done.
I’m not a fan of the detail (or lack thereof) on the Valandor model, but that’s the only issue I have with the whole DS release at all.
Not including the obvious Adventurer’s Companion thingy…
The more I see of DS the more I feel compelled to buy it…. but then need to find space in the hobby timetable for it!
Get it, its definatly one of the quickest sit down and play games on the market and its hella fun 🙂
Those do look really good.
Looks very nice! Having a great deal of fun with DS at the moment.
Agreed, had great fun introducing some filthy casuals by passing it off as a board game, they loved it.
I received this set as part of my kickstarter package. Valandor is ok, maybe with a resin model and an awesome paint job he could look truly epic and god-like… but not with my paint skills 😀
Had to hot water treat my mini, not a good sculpt but it does the job.
Haven’t had time to read up on it as been busy with other things
Ks copy came without a box which is annoying as store copies do
However seems its a worthwhile addition to a D’s collection
