Copplestone Castings Bring On The Tanks
July 29, 2011 by dracs
Copplestone Castings are taking to both sea and land with two new tanks and even a mini-sub!
The tanks are both variants on the Medium C "Hornet", with both a Female incarnation,
and a Male version armed with a 6 pounder gun.
According to Copplestone, this tank was intended to be the primary offensive tank of 1919 and was on order when the war ended.
But it is not just the land which Copplestone are conquering. They have also set out to explore the briny depths with this new mini-sub.
This little beauty is available as part of the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang range and is perfect for any under-sea adventure you might think of.
The tank’s nice, but it’s the sub that make me more likely to reach for my wallet. A very evocative and unusual piece, nicely done.
I guess in 1919 the tanks might have been a bit hard to deal with but basically they look big, slow and by later standards under gunned (a 6ilb gun must have seemed awesome late ww1 or even early ww2 so i guess it made sense for its time).
Fun for what ifs and painting, that kiss kiss sub is weird- i likey
The principle was to provide infantry support, a concept that was kept up to WW2.
iirc the Churchill tank was conceived of as going at waking pace and also had a 6pdr?
Where is John when we need him? lol
Looks good though and also love the little sub
Conversion to a small steampunk flyer maybe if you have no sub aqua games.
Yes, the Churchill had a 6-pdr, though the WWII variant had about twice the muzzle velocity as the WWI version if I recall correctly. The idea was the same though. It was meant as an infantry support tank and only needed to keep pace with troops on foot, as opposed to cruiser tanks which were speedier but more lightly armored.
A flyer or Cavorite-powered ship for VSF, certainly.
And no jokes about a tank with a ‘female incarnation’ but without bewbs? I’m disappointed in you Chibi… 😉
Before the advent of anti-tank rockets (and even then, really), tanks were something of a scary thing to deal with for unsupported infantry. Something that can easily kill you and is impervious to your normal weaponry. Can’t be fun.
