We go through some of your suggestions.

Kingdom Death Arrives
Kingdom Death: Monster has dropped into the studio and as it is Halloween we thought it would be a perfect chance to break open the box and have a look inside.
There are some exquisite miniatures, wonderful set of components and an equally impressive game to get invested in here.

Full speed ahead and damn the torpedos.
Great minis !
Ghosting on the monitors. When there’s something strange. And it don’t look good. Happy Halloween.
“Have you ever seen Games Workshop throw anything into their games?”
The Adeptus Arbites were stolen from Judge Dredd, as GW were making a Dredd game at the time. MODERN GW doesn’t but the GW we all learned to love did it all the time.
Also Kingdom Death has some creeply cheesecake (and beyond) models. These are the type of thing that makes me sad to be a gamer. Hey, at least we have the Dropfleet commander kickstarter to keep things good.
Question is: When they came up with the Adeptus Arbites, did they still hold the license for Judge Dredd? Or was it more like: “We’ve lost/expired the license but the molds are still good – How can we make profit?”
Even WarnerBrothers(BugsBunny) and Disney(MickeyMouse) appeared together in the same movie. They were together with Bob Hoskins falling down a building in: “Who framed Roger Rabbit?” Jessica Rabbit *rrrrrrr*
Happy Halloween all,
RE: Marvel and DC crossover. In the 70′ s they had a super sized crossover book with Spiderman vs Superman. The villains were Lex Luthor and Doctor Octopus.
Happy Weekend!
It’s the weekend… just had a quick preview and will have to watch in full later – off to a FoW day!
Justin “do i look like fagin!” yes justin you’re wearing his bloody beard mate! lol
That was priceless wasn’t it lol
He looks exactly like Fagan he he
Crossovers between IPs have been pretty common in comics. One of them was so successful that it spawned several movies and is now taken for granted that they exist in the same setting when they never did before a comic crossed them over. That being Aliens and Predator. Both of those have had further crossovers with Batman and Superman, and Batman has also crossed over with Judge Dredd.
Did any of the big Sci Fi licences ever do it @redben (in wider universe stuff or comics etc?) I’m curious if out side of comics is this something that doesn’t happen as much?
Aliens, Predator, Robocop, and Terminator have a history of crossing over with each other and other IPs in comic books. I’m not aware of Star Trek or Star Wars having crossovers in any medium.
To do it in a movie would usually take the same studio to own both IPs, as Fox do with Alien and Predator. It’s easier for a comic book publisher as they can license several IPs.
Though I’ll stress I’m not a fan of Star Wars or Star Trek so any crossovers they did do would pass me by.
I do have a novel that is a star trek/ marvel crossover.
Does the StarWars Christmas Special count as a crossover? What about Luke Skywalker appearing on the Muppet Show?
Predator 2 had an Alien skull as one of the trophies on the predator ship which gave them the idea for the crossover comics
The first Predator/Aliens comic was almost a year before Predator 2.
@davidl303 and @borbarad:
From IMDB –
“Putting the Alien (1979) skull on the trophy case on the Predator ship was the idea of Stephen Hopkins’ as a way of showing off all the different species and creatures that the Predators have hunted and killed. It was also a nod to the Dark Horse Aliens vs Predator comics which were quite popular at the time.”
Like I say, Dark Horse had been doing them for almost a year by the time the movie was released.
I always thought that the connection between Alien and Predator was established at the end of the second Predator movie. There is an Alien skull somewhere in Predator ship.
I know Star Trek had a crossover with Doctor Who. TNG and the Doctor vs. Borg and Cyberman.(And because of the wibbily wobbly timey wimey…stuff – there was a little bit TOS in there too)
Yay for winning the prize! My 9month old daughter is sleeping, so quiet jammy dance! 😀
Another fab episode guys! love Kingdom Death looks beautiful hope the game play is equally sweet. However even at the discounted price its over £200 before shipping and thats just too much for a board game in my opinion. I know the individual parts are with a lot more and that compared to collecting a 40K army etc its cheap but a lot for BOARD game. Or perhaps I’m just too much of a cheap skate. Would love to see a cheaper entry point is all. 30K game does look good with Lloyd on that dam you GW.
Warhammer 40K had a lot of crossover with GWs Judge Dredd stuff in the very early days. Even today you can see the influences. See hive cities, Arbites, inquisitors, pretty much the entirety of Necromunda for examples.
Still don’t believe me? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8QbP8XtsXbk/Ukj2gk8DJvI/AAAAAAAADnw/W773EzRRfg0/s1600/SAM_2794.JPG
We used to use those for Rogue Trader
I have that – somewhere… I’m going to find it!
there was series, cross over between DC and Marvel where the heroes of both worlds battle each other, that also made into two series of where characters from both worlds mixed into one character
Yeah I had that series. Wolverine and Batman eventually merged into Darkclaw.
I love the Kindgom Death: Monster minis, and all the other minis at Adams web shop, but the game itself is too pricey for me. I have the money for it but I still can’t justify spending that much money on a board game. Because honestly, no matter how stunning it looks (and boy, DOES it look stunning!) and how many components you get, it’s still “just” a board game.
Having played through it, it is more like a grid based miniatures game, with gameplay that allows for an emergent rpg-like story. So think more akin to Necromunda and Mordheim.
Off the top of my head – Avengers/JLA (Busiek & Perez delivering a love letter to two iconic teams in all their incarnations…), Marvel vs DC and a smattering of one-off crossovers (Batman/Daredevil for example). Star Trek has had some cross-overs in the comic iterations – Star Trek/X-Men, Star Trek/Doctor Who, and they are currently working on Star Trek/Green Lantern. There is also an upcoming Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover. At the moment there has been a thing of publishers who have access to characters doing crossovers within their respective books. Dynamite have had several recently – Swords of Sorrow… Read more »
Kingdom Death looks absolutely beautiful!
But my hobby funds will go to GW this time, I have been waiting for plastic 30k for too long to give this a miss. As are the new 40k Tau. C’mon Lloyd, you know you want them 😎
Hopefully Kingdom Death will be a success and thus eventually more affordable.
Panzerfauste looks awesome and i’m in on that one already…. Judge Dredd refereeing is a joke what are Mantic thinking???
Bigger movie crossover would be Freddy and Jason, and there are nods sometimes like George Lazenby playing an untitled Bond cameo in Return of the Man from UNCLE.
Kingdom death Is awesome, I missed the kickstarter but when I saw the game being played and the awesome minis and art I had to grab the pre order deal, If you plan on getting it run! you will have to pay an extra 100$ for it once it is being released. Of course it is worth that and more.
Happy Halloween!
As your talking new shows can you give an indication of when hobby lab will be coming back? Lloyd teased some stuff that would be covered in it a few weeks back and I’m keen to give them a go. Great to see so much extra shows and content to enjoy while I’m painting.
Will Kingdom Death ever be available again? I can’t for the life of me work out what exactly is limited beyond the price.
The Knights of Dice stuff looks tremendous. VIv’s a great bloke and I hope it’s a success for him. And I hope they get them into UK stores.
May have drooled a little at the 30k stuff.
Well I could do with skipping a few meals …
Happy halloween weekenders, we really liked look of the panzerfauste game will keep an eye peeled when it hit,s the stores have a great weekend to all, but just a footnote: our dog (jenny) will only listen to warren when he’s talking and lick the screen every time he is on and can’t understand where you gone and wonders around the living room then use paws to lap top screen, go figure a dog life 🙂 and no accounting for taste. Of course every time we try and get a picture she sits up and poses at the bloody camera,… Read more »
I just want to state for the record, I would never refer to Justin as an unch.
Great video again guys thanks, Monster looks like a magnificent bit of kit, in all my years in the miniature gaming world, I have never seen anything like that with such high production values.
