Atomise Your Opponents With Forge World’s New Tau Tech
October 9, 2015 by brennon
Forge World have shown off some rather devastating Tau Tech that is an additional option for Ta'unar Supremacy Armour. See what you think of the very deadly Fusion Eradicator...
Atomise!
This weapon is, as you might imagine, quite devastating and as you can see isn't just one gun but many. These weapons are so devastating and the effects of their firepower on the unit itself so deadly that they can only be used for one battle and are then scrapped...
"Designed as a radical solution to the limitations of current Tau fusion weapons technology, the Fusion Eradicator combines a battery of multiple synchronised firing chambers.
The weapon creates a blast of energy so potent that solid matter caught in its path is torn apart at a molecular level by brute thermal force, and no physical material yet known to the Tau can survive its destructive power."
So there you have it. A weapon so deadly that they don't dare use the same version of it again for fear of it blowing up I'd imagine! Radical is certainly the key word here.
Heated Plasma
While not as devastating as the Fusion Eradicator the Volkite Culverin is a weapon option now available to the Imperials and Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts.
"The Volkite Culverin is the most potent man-portable iteration of Volkite technology in use by the Legiones Astartes. Its beam has a devastating effect on organic matter, explosively burning flesh into ash and jetting fire.
The Contemptor pattern Dreadnought’s powerful reactor and load bearing capacity allow it to carry a twin-linked variant of the Volkite Culverin into battle."
As you might imagine this will start burning flesh to ash in seconds and melting its way through armour with ease. I do like painting plasma on weapons from Warhammer 40,000 allowing you to add a bit of colour to otherwise quite moody models.
Will you be picking up that new Tau weapon?

The fluff over on the Forge World website actually states that Fusion Eradicators are only used for one battle and then have to replaced due to their short operational lifespan, not that they can only used once per battle.
Just to avoid any confusion – these are not ‘one use only’ weapons on the tabletop.
Aye I did mean that but think I just confused myself haha – good spot.
I think it needs bigger guns and more guns.
Those are some rather sweet looking big guns.
Melee combat is still effective in the 40k universe :p check
