Dawn of War 2 Gets Dark And Brooding
July 20, 2011 by brennon
The massive THQ and Relic Entertainment title Dawn of War 2 has been delivering an impressive interactive experience for just over a year now; letting lovers of the table top game and real-time strategy games play as their favourite Warhammer 40,000 races in campaigns and multiplayer modes.
Recently they added a pretty snazzy looking Dark Angel Chapter skin to the game, allowing you to customize your space marines to wear the flowing robes and winged helmets of one of the darkest chapters in the 40,000 Universe.
But now they have gone one further and released a skin for the Eldar race in the game, and it looks pretty impressive.
I think of all the Craftworlds they chose a pretty awesome one to add in as a custom skin in the dark and sinister Ulthwe.
However, coming in at around £5 is it worth it?
Do you guys play Dawn of War 2, and is this up your street? Did you enjoy the previous release of the Dark Angels too or are you a staunch Blood Ravens fan?

Not into the game, but I like the look of that Ulthwe guardian – be cool to see FW produce models based on that..
Sorry to burst your bubble, but unless I’m horribly mistaken, there is no guardian in that picture. It’s a warlock, a farseer and a warp spider.
Haven’t played since the original DoW but I wouldn’t pay extra for something like that – I’d only pay for DLC if it changed gameplay …
hm yeah its ok, but the normal units just have some sort of new textures (Ulthwe insignia) and thats all; I dont see that this is worth 5,99€ ( same with the Dark Angels DLC)
and for the second question: I am a BLOOD ANGELS fan and I would buy a BA DLC probably ^^ but then theyll have to remodel the stuff not just add some textures ^^
OH AND WE FINALLY NEED A REAL ADD-ON ! The Space Marines need bikes and trikes ^^
oh oh ! and we need a team-up between Warhammer 40K and the whole Total War series ! we finally need real scale Warhammer 40K battles with thousands of combatants!
This is exactly what I’ve been dying to see for years. Have never played DoW2 because it seems like you get less of an army to fight with compared to DoW1, and I want more damn it! Also it needs to be: pick army, deploy, fight. None of this base-building and re-inforcement crap. Total War rocks.
£5?? Christ’s sake. This is exactly the sort of thing that should be released for free as a thank-you to loyal fans.
But there were workers who put time and effort into it. Should they have worked for free? £5 seems a bit nasty though.
the Freebooter Orcs DLC was for free.
I was going to post something similar. A new texture for the models (which have been produced for years, for free, by modder communities – see the excellent Thousand Sons project for DoW), should be released for free. Now, if it came with a special mission for that race, etc…
5,99€ just to change the look of my Eldar… no thanks.
I love this game, i love the support, but sometimes i dont really agree with their prices. I guess if you REALLY love that chapter or army or whatnot its awesome.
I love DoW2 but I have no need to get this.
total war WFB would be boss… 40k would rock… naval engagements using the imperial fleet???
I like DoW series, but i would be hard pressed to purchase this DLC. The Total War DLC that give you different campaign missions/new races if THQ was to do that, then yeah i’d be happy to pay more.
Actually, would be great to have a total Total War conversion. Start off with a Battlefleet Gothic scenario to set up your planetary invasion/defense, move to an Auronautica Imperialis for the initial attacks, then on to an Epic attack (Titans dammit!!), and finally to a last, major battle with a 1500-3000pt force (using 40K and Apocalypse rules). That I’d be more than willing to shell out for!
