Need More Firepower? Meet Forge World’s Tau Supremacy Armour
September 18, 2015 by brennon
If you want to destroy your enemies almost entirely and turn them into puffs of smoke then see what you make of Forge World's latest release, the Tau KX139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour. If you were every wondering what 'enough guns' looked like this probably answers the question...
This mammoth Battlesuit comes armed with a pair of Tri-axis Ion Cannon and a Pulse Ordnance Multi-driver. Basically it stands there at the back of the battlefield and fires these massive weapons at your enemies from afar. It even has missile pods and burst cannons built into the front armour as a defensive option.
The model does look like it has just walked out of an anime which is quite fitting considering the overall aesthetic for the Tay in Warhammer 40,000. I almost think it's a shame that they didn't go for a four legged walker (although Games Workshop are looking at that) since it is purely defensive in strategic use.
If you wanted something to match up against the likes of Imperial Knights and Titans then this is more or less on the money. You can actually also buy both the Tri-Axis Ion Cannon and Pulse Ordnance Multi-Driver separately if you so desired for some big terrain project.
What do you think of this big Tau tech?

250£ is alot. But it is quite large.
It will find its way to me sometime in the near future. All the new tau stuff from GW is first in line though.
Way OTT for my tastes.
Fairly impressive model for sure. Gotta love them going ever bigger though. Next one will have guns on top of guns 😉
I don’t know about 40k but I had the impression in 8th edition / End Times that GW was jumping the shark with big models releases.
Kinda lost interest anyway with them moving away from the setting. It’s not bad given the quality of other companies models and rule sets. I just hope for 40k fans that the imperium end time doesn’t happen to them and they got to keep their setting 😀
Its almost reasonably priced, seeing as it looks to stand 7 – 9″ tall, not that much smaller than a warhound… Even got a fishy name.
Wonder how many gunpla’s we are going to see proxied for one of those…
The KX139 Ta’unar Supremacy Armour; when you absolutely, positively have to kill every foe of the Greater Good on the planet… accept no substitute. 😉
The rules for that thing are nasty. Not only does it have epic levels of long ranged firepower but it is extremely tough and even resistant to D strength weaponry. Even at 600pts you are getting a good deal.
isnt this the type of unit that would have all other races drop their melee foolishness? 😛 If anything got into close range of this monster theres a risk the universe will implode, thats how shooty this unit looks. Must say it looks good, the Tau are getting their lovin for sure. Now drop the prices and rewamp the rules and im onboard again. 😛 fat chance though
No thanks. Overpriced foolishness imo. Especially with new “Kill me” colour scheme.
I’ve started playing around with desert paint schemes inspired by Grand Canyon photos. I’ll likely end up with something purple/gray in shadows, with a mint orange/tan highlight, and some digital checkerboard camouflage portions that combine the two, so it looks like the surface is adapting to surroundings.
I agree with the paint scheme. I just can’t get into the white with crimson trim (but only in some places). Then again my taste is probably suspect since my Tau are dark teal with bone trim and unit decals
Not necessarily a bad scheme. You should post some photos 🙂 . White with crimson trim only works in a winter-scape when you’re standing over a deer kill.
That looks ridiculous in good way. Too bad that it’s over expensive.
I really do like this, even more now it’s been painted. But what I’m more excited about is that Tau Titan’s are now officially part of the fluff, which means people can now kitbash and convert there own mechanical Tau monstrosities, and use the base rules from this model, to use it game.
Tau titans… whatever happened to ‘we don’t need enormous walking monstrosities – we’ve got plenty of fire power on the ground or in the air or in orbit for that matter that can take those great big Imperial bipedal £&$^&?!s down’
never mind… my only serious gripe with the model however is that surely something with an armament as large as that would have more of a squat looking appearance, be more of a slow and lumbering uber killy machine? still, it does look rather good 🙂
War happenend.
Tau have found their previous doctrines lacking and are adjusting with typical Tau efficiency and speed.
big bada boom.
I’m sorry, but the rules are ridicules! 10 W with this heavy save against Destroyer Weapons for the Discount Price of 600 Points… come on, Forgeworld… you don’t have to ruin the balance even more… keep modeling cool looking miniatures.
It’s more a response to the ludicrous power creep that Apocalypse started. The focus on super heavies and weapons that can flatout kill heavy armour has left balance by the wayside with some sides being left further behind.
There’s no such thing as ‘enough guns’.
Good luck keeping it on it’s feet after firing all it’s weapons at once.
Recoiless weapons or energy weapons. It is a sci fi setting.
Wellllll technically to be sci-fi (aka science fiction, emphasis on science) the setting has to be based in science.
What you are really dealing with here is fantasy.
Clearly, there is a Tau Commander compensating for something….
Not having titans of their own 🙂
I like this in all its Anime Mecha glory.
Will I ever buy one … Hell no
But it looks cool to me.
Well at least it’s not Khorne or Sigmarines.
