Let’s look at what’s in the Ironclad Regiment

The Ironclad Regiment is the backbone of any Dwarf army so it makes sense for John to have a look at what's in the box.
Mantic have loads of deals on their site for these beer drinking nuts and here's the link 🙂

One of my few complaints about the Ironclads is that they look very similar to one another not helped by the similarly shaped beards and shields.
Other than that I like the proportions and the armour.
Yeah, I agree totally. While the proportions are great, they all look a bit similar. Having said that, it’s probably nothing a little customization/alternate beard colors couldn’t fix, I suppose.
As far as the repetition of poses goes, what strikes me as funny is why you all seem to think that a bunch of guys from the same force, outfitted by the same smiths, should all have highly individual appearances…
Nice well re-review. I like it more than the one you did a couple of weeks ago.
But please shorten your intros. Skipping (not to mention watching) 55sec in each vid is a bit anoying.
Personally the more I see of Mantics Dwarves the more I love them, Can’t wait for the big box set of them to come out in October.
These models are okay imo, and I wouldn’t mind having a full army about them. But I just really don’t like those heads. I feel like they’re too big, or maybe its the way the beards are scultped, or perhaps its the helmets. I don’t know, I do like the models, but I’m not in love with’em.
Same here. I prefer the head on GW warriors. Otherwise theIronclads seem superior.
Giggity, nice dwarfs, gotta admit. Still i’m going for undead, or am I?
oh, and forgot to say BULLDOG!
First off, a little constructive comment: maybe it’s best to sepcify how many of the “ordinary warrior” sprues the box actually has (I would imagine that there were two more in the box). Secondly: does the dog come with a base? Can the the “other race head” be used anywhere other than on the floor (by intention, so as the dog’s head or a warrior’s head or on the standard, rather than converted for that purpose)? Thirdly: The second half of the “normal” sprues is the same as the second half of the “command” sprue, which is amusing and very… Read more »
#1: 1 Command Sprue, 3 Regular Sprues
#2: No Base for the Bulldog. It seems mean for dolling up the Champion’s base, as the art has the Bulldog beside him. Orc head is an extra, use it on bases, scenery, etc.
Looks like Orcs in the new year.
One question about the dog. The handle on its back be placed in a dwarf hand. It would be cool to have one of the dwarfs getting ready to through the dog at the enemy
Not sure I agree with the comments about the dwarves proportions, although I am not entirely convinced by them yet. IMHO a dwrrf’s head is going to be propotionaly larger than a human head. Dwarves are not just scaled down humans. Likewise the hunched/neckless thing seems a dwarvish characteristic. The arms look a tad long, but if shorter there could be problems getting the models holding weapons convincingly? I am looking forward to seeing some in the flesh. Am going to have to complain to the RSPCA about using a bulldog as a handbag! An advantage of the plain shield… Read more »
There are pics of the Orc WIP floating around if one knows where to *coughwarseercough* look.
Regarding the similarity of the dwarfs, any model uniqueness is pretty much lost visually by the time you get past the first rank anyway. And having similar poses really helps to ease the assembly of large ranked units.
looks good, I think i might grab a battle set to play with my bud
