Avenging Angel
The model itself is rather massive standing at around the height of the Glottkin from The End Times line-up. Wielding Ghal Maraz in one hand and the Cometstrike Sceptre in the other you won't be able to escape its avenging wrath.
As a model I think it's a pretty good one from Games Workshop and the only thing that I don't like about the model is the swirling vortex beneath it. Otherwise I think it's a fairly awesome model.
It would have been interesting to see peoples reactions to the model if it had actually been larger in stature. By that I mean reaching that height on its own without the swirls. I think keeping him large but dominating like this with wings unfurled gives it the right amount of commanding presence.

Airbrush Paints
In addition to this avenging angel they have also released a new line of Airbrush Paints...
"Ready-thinned and usable straight from the 12ml pot, this is a set of paints manufactured to the same exacting standard as every other range we produce."
I could see this being a useful tool for folks who use their airbrush a lot. Having them ready to use right out of the pot is handy. We shall have to wait and see on whether or not they are any better than the existing line-up out there in the hobby world right now.

I am trying to give AoS a go, i.m off for another game today.
But £48 for this? Thanks but no thanks. I can get 3 plastic tanks for Bolt Action for that price.
Also, while the airbrush paints are a good idea, putting them in dropper bottles would have it much easier to fill the reservoir on an airbrush.

For me “I need one” has been replaced with “Do I need one?” and the answer to that question is more often than not a NO.
My opinion about this one has not changed with seeing it more. It’s still IMO childish looking thing. And expensive at boot.
I’m generally speaking a fan of GW, so this is the first time in a long time that I’ve thought a GW mini was just really bad. All that swirly crap just looks bad IMHO. You could easily build the mini without it, but it’s still not as great as it could be. Airbrush paint bottles will always be a bone of contention. I’ve seen several debates online where people refuse to buy anything which isn’t in a dropper bottle, but many other people saying they hate dropper bottles and prefer to use cheap, disposable pipettes to transfer paint. Bottle or flip cap. I see each having challenges and benefits. I have both but prefer dropper for most paints and airbrush work. The pot is good for washes right out of the pot.
Now that is one impressive miniature. I need him.
On behalf of the community I apologise for the people that thumbed you down. I see nothing in your comment that should truly warrant so many thumbs down, other than being dissentious from the pack on this model. Your comment was polite and to the point. One’s opinion on a model or work of art should be viewed as subjective and respected. I hope you get them negatives thumbed away, even though I disagree with this being impressive. But that is the beauties of opinions 😉

A bit too naff. I think it would have looked a bit better with a Astorath the Grimm style pose. Gharl Maraz over his head ready to smash down. Would like to try reposing him but can’t really justify the expense.
Awesome looking model and you can pick him up at a more reasonable £36, I wouldn’t get into AoS if it wasn’t for online discounters that’s for sure.
With a lot of models I can see why some people would like it even if I don’t, but I am honestly struggling to see any appeal in this guy.
As @erastus pointed out, to me it just screams “swirly crap” and I find it almost overwhelming to the eye, not to mention the price.
I just don’t get it.
The airbrush paints on the other hand seem reasonable, again they are at the expensive end of the price scale but not ridiculously so and for the convenience of having the “correct” colours for my GW minis (particularly Space Marines) I can even see myself trying them out.
The super spread out wings, cloak that looks like it needs bribesmaids trailing behind to hold it up and swirly fart thing at the bottom create the illusion its a Glot-kin sized model. Take the farts, wings and oversized cloak away and you have a fat sigmarine.
So I think its not a fairly awesome model 😉 But with the silly price of £48 for a fat sigmarine, I don’t know why GW went all out and rounded it off to £50! 😉
The engineer in me like the technical feat that GW have managed over the last few years of floating minis.
Like most of the Stormcast the mini it self is not my taste, but I will have to get a few games of AoS in as beerhammer is trying out AoS this year (shameless plug, if any one feel like signing up for a AoS double tournament, above a beer festival in Milton Keynes, the 12th – ping me and I forward it to the TO)
Yea, I can appreicate the technical skill gone into producing GW mini’s these days. Unfortunately, most of what they produce just has that ‘something’ missing for me to actually like them.
Honestly, I think a lot of that feeling is due to the studio painting style. I’ve seen some absolutely stunning paint jobs done on the Stormcast whereas the studio ones are decidedly underwhelming.
I’ve seen stuff done by other painters and still find that bit of soul missing 🙁 I am also refering to GW stuff in general not just the sigmarines.

You hit the nail on the head mate.
Because of the AoS haters, they will automatically hate every post here or elsewhere just because they can. Same goes on Youtube, there are some great battle reports but there is still a handful of twats who just have to thumb it down.

Although overall its a crap miniature at a stupid price.
I think if the swirls were painted a more earthly colour to look like dust and dirt from the floor in a vortex raising him up, they may make the swirls look better.
Currently he’s being chased by a purple and blue snake.
Crap was harsh, not good enough for the price asked.
How was ‘crap’ harsh? All GW have done is taken a standard sized mini (for that game) and added all the hee-haw so it appears bigger and can charge more for it. I hope the sales staff wear a mask while selling this.
Seems a touch tame under the circumstances.
I am quite happy with the model. It really has a commader’s feel to it. The vortex or whatever that is beneath him is also quite decent but could look better if it painted in another way. Maybe not the best and original idea, but still not a bad one. It does look a bit fragile thou.
Like I have mentioned before, the problem with the sigmarites is they are all the same silhouette. This could have been a model to break away from that, but take away the swirly stuff and its still a sigmarite who isnt really much bigger than any other. Not my thing, but it is very well done and I can see why plenty like it. I also don’t think the studio colour scheme does these models any favours at all. Over the top and just a little bit silly (in a plate armoured diva kind of way) it may be, but I still like this model. With the right paint scheme and careful posing of the arms and head I think it will have quite the commanding tabletop presence (I would go for Ghal Maraz lowered, and the model’s head tilted down and looking in the direction of the hammer, as if the Celestant-Prime is picking out some unfortunate to wallop into the next realm over). I wish they’d move on, already. All these Sigmar things look more or less the same to me, with a few different bells and whistles, and an eye watering price. Not a fan…. hopefully they can come up with something better for the other factions.
Seems the bloom is off the rose, anyway. Went into GW on a Friday for my monthly allotment of Agrax Earthshade and once again, it was almost empty… just two boys playing Oldhammer. So much for all the pomp and circumstance surrounding AoS.
Are they allowed to play Oldhammer in GW?

If you put some planning and a lot of time into it, I think this model would look great if you did some light sourcing. Though I’d definitely change the colours of the “swirly crap” – Erastus 2015.
A more dynamic pose would be nice, though nothing a bit of green stuff can’t fit.
Not sure why they made the airbrush paint. Just use the normal paint and water it down. Same cost, twice as much paint.
I use DecoArt acrylics for mini’s and terrain lol: $1 for 4 oz. Works fine almost as is in an airbrush too.
I like this model. It isn’t for everyone. As for the price it is what it is. I’ll probably get this model but I not right away. I’d like to see some other paint schemes though.
So this is the winged flavour of Sagmarines then. It looks…well, like the others but with messy “wings” and swirly…stuff beneath it. Sorry, but making a kit large and gaudy doesn’t automatically make it impressive. I like the mace.

Such a stiff looking sculpt, i cant even imagine it performing any movement apart from floating. Hes got two arms and two legs, theres lots the sculptor could have done in the posing department but went with floating sculpture. Thats a problem i have seen with many of GWs recent plastics, they are somehow lacking “motion” even when they are supposed to be running, striking etc .. They have no “soul” so to speak.
I think they’re hard to pose because of the OTT armour. It doesn’t look like anything you could fight in to begin with, let alone move around in.
