Infinity Arachne: Where To Get Your Infinity Tokens!
August 12, 2015 by crew
This is the Wartrader, selling you Infinity goodies while also telling you where to get free stuff...
A frequent question from new players is 'What tokens do I need for Infinity?'. It's a perfectly reasonable question but doesn't really have a one-size-fits-all answer.
Official Infinity Marker Downloads
However we can break it down into a few sets. Please note that these are all recommendations, you'll need to tweak them all depending on the specific units and abilities you're using!
The Basics
At the absolute most basic, you need something like this:
That gives you your basic Orders (although you could also use glass beads etc.), the Lieutenant's special Order, some assorted status markers and a smattering of Camo markers.
Advanced Stuff
Once you start getting into some for the more advanced rules you'll start needing Irregular and Impetuous Orders (although again some differently-coloured glass beads also work well)...
...Command Tokens, Retreat! markers and a wider selection of status markers.
The Sneaky Gits
Camo-heavy forces have some more specific needs - apart from lots of different Camo markers (potentially more than you see here).
You're likely to want some Mines, more Burnt markers and also Blinded and Targeted markers for the various effects your Forward Observer troops can have.
Hacking
A Hacking-heavy force also tends to need a lot of markers, what with the Hackers being able to put the enemy troops into assorted statuses and the various ongoing Hacking Programs that can be run.
Faction Specifics
Tohaa are likely to need multiple Link Leader markers and Symbiont Inactive markers. Shasvastii Sectorial forces will need some Spawn-Embro markers (instead of Unconscious) and potentially some Seed-Embryos.
Steel Phalanx Sectorial will want multiple Link Leader markers and probably several Valor: No Wound Incapacitation (V:NWI for short) markers for the troops that get to stay active when technically Unconscious.
Where To Get Markers - Cheap Options
The cheapest is to use glass beads for all your Orders (or count them down on a die) and use some blank plastic discs (tiddlywinks etc.) plus a dry wipe marker. However this doesn't look very pretty.
The next cheapest is to go to ToadChild's excellent Marker Sheet Creater which will generate PDFs with whatever mix of tokens you want. The token images in this article where generated using this tool.
These can then be cut out with appropriate-sized hole punches or (if you're a glutton for punishment) a pair of scissors. Self-adhesive transparent dome stickers can be added to make them longer lasting.
Where To Get Markers - Warsenal
Especially if you're in the US, Warsenal make a wide range of acrylic and magnetic markers.
Their camo markers are particularly pretty, although you want to make sure you don't use the 'correct' silhouette for what's under each marker!
Where To Get Markers - Customeeple
Customeeple in Spain (just round the corner from Corvus Belli themselves) also do a wide range of acrylic markers and templates.
Of particular note are their 'base-arc' status markers.
Where To Get Markers - Micro Art Studio
Finally (for actual official markers), MAS make acrylic markers with printed backs - unlike Warsenal and Customeeple, these use the same images as the rulebooks so the tokens are instantly recognisable if you've been playing for any time.
I'm now going to direct you to my own store ('Commercial bias!' I hear you cry! Darn right.) as I have permission from MAS to sell their tokens on a pick-n-mix basis, letting you choose exactly which mix of tokens you want and getting bulk discounts the more tokens you buy in one go.
So to wrap up, you can get away with beads/dice and handwritten markers or spend quite a bit of money buying every token you could possibly ever need.
Most people do something in the middle, but what's your favourite approach?

"...a frequent question from new players is 'What tokens do I need for Infinity?'"
"Customeeple in Spain (just round the corner from Corvus Belli themselves) also do a wide range of acrylic markers and templates..."
I largely use the bead cover approach – very good on the pre-cut ones from Icestorm! and augment with a 1 inch punch. I bought the meeple ones and some from MAS – but be careful! I bought the command and control pack from them and got a set about a cm across rather than an inch. Very disappointing.
I looked around a lot too and settled on a different idea. I went to a printer to get my tokens printed on post-card cardboard with a varnish on both side (to protect them from liquids and dirt). It cost me 5$ to print 2 entire sets (free PDF available on the Infinity web site), containing orders, objective markers, silhouettes and every single marker available. BUT, it took me around 3 hours to cut it all out. They’re thick enough so they’re easy to pick up. They’re varnished to give them a bit of durability. If you’re not afraid to… Read more »
There’s a pretty expansive thread on making your own tokens on the infinity forums as well (http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/topic/28382-cheap-trick-for-making-tokens-markers/). Though I do prefer my MAS tokens, I haven’t yet seen their new smaller ones but the large ones are awesome.
I used it myself and I have to said that this is the better option of all
Corvus Belli make this real easy. Just download for freeeeeeeeeeeeee. It’s amazing. If you want better quality then you can look on Corvus Belli ‘s Infinity the Game Web site. Support CB go through them is what I say. It’s a way of saying thank you for offering so much for freeeeeeeeeeeeee.
or you could check my post in the infinity forums here on how to make your own, and some excellent advice from other members too on making the best tokens to your liking.
for about an outlay of £14 i was able to make over 300 tokens, though the manufactured one look great, they are far to expensive for something you can knock together at home in an evening and look just as good
I do find this a difficult one. Planning to start up with infinity shortly and I really love the tokens but the stingy side of me does struggle to move away from anything other than printed and stuck to a base or some such.
I pretty much followed Killian’s excellent tip and got hold of sheets of cheap acrylic domes from China and made my own from the ones in Icestorm and the box cartons. To cut out the box ones neatly I bought a cheap 1″ circle punch which does a great job.
I actually prefer the nice rounded edges feel to them compared with the MAS acrylic ones. Although to be fair the MAS ones do look really purdy too 🙂
Acrylic beads + 1 inch puncher + the free printable Infinity token set worked for me as well. However I bought some Customeeple camos, silhouette and command tokens, they are also very good product.
I loved the look of the customeeple markers – had to have them! The silhouette tokens are brilliant.
Before we went down that route we just printed the pdf at 70% and got my wife to laminate them. Perfect. There is that great application that makes a pdf of whatever tokens you need. You can’t go wrong with that.
Beaded my Operation icestorm tokens too.
Then I supplimented my collection by cutting out the token images that comes on the boxes and put beads on them too.
The tokens on the boxes usually cover your needs for that box.
I don’t know if the new packaging still have those?
I was really disappointed that MAS started to produce the newer N3 tokens in 15mm diameter rather than sticking to the well established 25mm format.
Although I think the acrylic bubble method looks rather good, I was against mixing the styles.
I bought 25mm clear acrylic bases and glued my DIY printed tokens under them.
Looks *very* similar to the old MAS ones.
Costs are around 10p per token.
print them on paper, cover the sheet in sticky back plastic, get a 25mm hole punch from hobbycraft, stick em on 25mm plastic bases, job done
