DUST Studio Showing Off Incredible Terrain At Gen Con
July 29, 2015 by stvitusdancern
DUST Studio continues to cut out its path in the gaming world and with that in mind they will be coming to Gen Con this year and sharing space with Cool Mini or Not (a possible indication of future distributor?) and along with this, they will have some pretty nice looking terrain for their demo table.
Let's get it out of the way now, we all have our opinions regarding the whole Kickstarter blow up, and we will probably never know the whole story. However, if you are a fan of DUST the game then it should at least warm your cockles of your heart that there is still life in this world.
The pieces that they are showcasing are the new ruins by Vincent Fontaine and other tablescape items that will make for an incredible immersive experience.
They will also have the Frank Von Stein miniature there in hard plastic ( yes Lloyd I will try and snag you one, as it will be the consolation prize when I kick your rear-end in our Battle Across The Atlantic).
I love the world of DUST and it is actually a pretty solid game from Tactics (boardgame) to Battlefield (miniature table top war game). I am a Warfare player myself, but it is all good stuff. Let's see what Paulo has instore for us.
Do you like DUST as much as Lloyd and I?

I appologies for I never write anything negative(feels it is unimportant) but Dust have burned me as a player. I have been through 2 rules changes in 4 years and there is no more faith in the game for me.
I love Dust and the terrain. I’m super excited to receive the terrain from the Kickstarter.
The biggest thing standing in the way of the Dust terrain is the distribution. If I order it directly from them, likely there will be some serious shipping costs.
Of course, that’s with most things wargaming when you live in the states. All the cool stuff is being done somewhere else.
The terrain looks pretty good.
Frank Von Stein… what a fantastic name!
…i’ll clear him a space in SotTR!
While I’m glad they will continue to produce new minis and terrain I’m still waiting for the terrain pieces I ordered from the kickstarter. Until I get them I have to stay away from DUST.
I’d like to thank the Dust Kickstarter. If not for burning me and my friends who backed it I would have never moved to more entertaining games like Wolsung and Infinity. I used to love playing Warfare, but now my gaming friends and I just tend to avoid the topic of Dust most days.
Looks nice, but the stuff is easy enough to make.
Do you feel a hobby-lab moment coming on?
Play your cards right, you never know 😉
So that explains the start of the VLog -get a backstage pass and have a look 😉
I’m all in on Dust on this side of the pond I didn’t do the kickstarter so I don’t know what people are talking about when they say it takes away from them playing? I play with friends and not the company ,so I don’t know what to do with that. But We play it we love the miniatures and I’ll be getting the Frank Von Stein miniature for some more weird WWII stuff we are planning . New terrain is always great.
pity it’s so hard to actually buy anything over here (Ireland)
I prefer warfare. It’s a good system.
Pity about the kickstarter, (I’m still waiting for my stuff)
I think it’s done a lot of damage to dust and it’s a pity the 2 companies still have not fully sorted it.
On the plus side it’s meant there has been a load of cheap dust models around.
If they can work out the last details with BF, I’m pretty sure CMON would love to support them as distributor. CMON as a community meshes well with the Dust Aesthetic.
BF just posted an update on KS saying that the last paid items shipped and that wave 2 is in in US and lined up to start shipping as soon as released by customs. So in theory everything short of the DS freebies will be delivered in the near future. While BF have admitted mistakes in the whole fiasco I don’t recall DS doing the same so I’m leery of any further investment in Dust which is sad because its got awesome fluff and is an awesome take on Weird WWII.
Stop calling them “freebies” 🙂
The add-ons are things we were promised if we contributed to the KS. I “paid” for them 🙂
