Gen Con 2015 Live Blog!

Upper Deck has an AWESOME booth this year! They put gamers in the jungle for the release of their Predator Card Game. We will definitely have to grab a demo sometime in the next few days and I'm so hoping to see some killer Predator cosplay!

After seeing the booth for Wyrd, I cannot wait to have a chat with them! There's something magical about the dark and crazy terrain you can use for Malifaux...

Gianna and I just got to play a game of Malifaux using the 2 player starter set. It was really well balanced, with fun abilities for both sides- the Guild & Neverborn. The great points for me was having an abbreviated set of rules available as well as everything you need to play in the box - tape measurers and all!

The fate decks were great too, as they have some explanations on them to serve as handy reminders - like the difference between the black & red jokers and whether cards register weak, moderate or severe damage.

And then there was my favorite part of the game...winning! Sorry Gianna. 😉

We set ourselves up right next to the Infinity stand to see the rush and what a rush there was! As, you can see from the stock pile of Operation Icestorm and USAriadna boxes they were expecting a large crowd. They luckly planned correctly as the stockpiles dwindled after only a few hours

Press hour this year was very, very crowded as they combined press and other early entry attendees into one group this year. So we were only able to catch a few quick shots here and there. This is a few shots from the cases at the Fantasy Flight Games display cases. I am still looking for the big ticket item this year from them.

So we had an interview with our friends over at Soda Pop / Ninja Division and we have a WORLD EXCLUSIVE! Watch for the video later!

Contrary to the rumors circulating, GW is in fact here. Their booth is very unassuming, and there's no signage, but they are here selling Age of Sigmar. We will try to grab a chat in the next few days.

The demo tables are packed at Privateer Press, and their display cases were loaded with beautiful minis! The display piece with the train was absolutely stunning! Take a look in the cases for current and upcoming releases.

Dawn gets the scoop from John of Ninja Division and Soda Pop about all new and upcoming releases for all of their games. Dawn even gets John to tell us about a hidden treasure here at their booth at Gen Con!

Marie Claude is here at Gen Con showing off her giant... robot, Lug. A rather impressive work of art, just goes to show you her dedication to her craft. Always a popular attraction at Soda Pop and Ninja Division's stand.

Clear on the other side of the exhibition hall, we found a GW rep with an Age of Sigmar stand! Very friendly and chatting it up with gamers. They have a nice display as well as the sprues laid out for people to have a look. Well done, GW. 🙂

While roaming the aisles, we stumbled on Cubicle 7, who have some really lovely Hobbit and Lord of the Rings games. We will definitely stop back to have a chat about these.

Here are a just a sampling of the incredible amount and variety of vendors. There are lots of smaller companies here as well as the bigger ones and it's fun seeing what gems we can find among it all...

The hustle & bustle of the convention is like no other. Between gaming and people watching, it can be difficult to decide what to do- but I can think of worse decisions. 🙂

One of the big draws at Gen Con is the Battletech Combat Simulators. Get in a pod and control a mech and become victorious!

Mice & Mystics from Plaid Hat Games couldn't be any cuter! They had me at creatures, but after seeing how adorable the minis are, I'm hooked! Then they added Tail Feathers for fantastic birds. How do you choose?

I got some quick pictures of the awards for the tournaments that are being held this weekend. Have you been keeping up with what Fantasy Flight Games have been doing at Gen Con?

CMON's Rum & Bones looks very irresistible displayed on the beautiful show piece for the convention. Sitting on top of a treasure trunk, 2 ships are facing off in an epic battle on the high seas.

Greenbrier Games the makers of Yashima had some of their miniatures on display and I love the look. Have you played any of their games? Let us know!

There was some interest in Japanime, so we ran by their booth to have a look. They were excited to announce that in addition to their Kromaster Arena game, they'll soon have another variety available with Kromaster Quest.

Dawn braving shiny crazy growling zombies that were once gamers roaming in he vendor area, we bravely made our way to the Lost Tomb. The game was on Kickstarter and successfully funded!

Dawn stops by the Aetherium stand to see how Anvil 8 Games has progressed since their successful Kickstarter.

Indianapolis is coming to life as the gamers are making their way into the convention center. This morning we will be filming the Covus Belli 10th Anniversary seminar, which should be great! Today is also the classic costume parade in the afternoon, so I expect we'll see a whole lot more from the cosplay individuals.

Radio Dishdash Publishing breaks down their games, Skirmish Outbreak, a zombie game with a twist. They also bring out the Skirmish Sangin and their new expansion Maalintii Rangers (Day of Rangers in Somali) which is now on Kickstarter.

Today is parade day and cosplay competitions. Participants are lining up and I heard them say there are no more entries available, so only those who preregistered can participate.

Saturday is a big gaming day and these are just a sampling of the games being played this morning.

Gamers are checking in to play in Upper Deck's Legendary Championships. Many will enter, few will win.

Look what we got for John. We know he misses all those AT ATs.
