Ride To War On Bears With The Shattered Crown
July 13, 2015 by brennon
Dead Earth Games have shown off the progress on another of their neat units coming to The Shattered Crown which is currently up on Kickstarter. If you like the idea of War Bears then you've come to the right place...
I think these are looking neat. The Dark Age style of arms and armour has been mixed with the Fantastical to bring you a range of bear cavalry for use in the game. One of the things that takes a while to get right when it comes to 3D sculpting and animals is the fur, sometimes it just doesn't look right.
Obviously we'd have to wait to see the final miniatures but they have gone with a more realistic looking fur texture compared to the big 'cartoon' looking fur of animals from Games Workshop for example.
What do you think?

Idea alone is awesome and that does look promising.
I like the idea of bear cavalry, but something is a bit off on this. Just don’t know what it is.
Rider says “Go,” bear says “No.”
I hate to poo poo someones hard work but this is not for me.
I love the concept but the execution is all wrong.
Both rider and bear are too stiff. The bear is just to big and makes me think of a yawning rodent (i.e hamster) and the roders pose is way off.
I want to love these and hope the finished article does the ideas put forward justice.
I have to agree with the previous posts. Great concept but the scaling looks off somehow. Maybe make the bear a little smaller and have the riders knees bent and further forward?
Could not disagree more – the 3d render on YouTube looks great – good detail all round. This from a company who have only produced good models (Across Dead Earth Engineers some of the best post-apocalypse figures I’ve seen).
Compare this angry bear to the AoW bears, this is loads better. Hell of a shame if this amazing ks isn’t backed through ‘something wrong don’t know what’ and ‘bear too big’ negativity. It’s a bear! And the fantasy gaming world will be better with it in.
