Dust Tactics Lives And Now There Are Options
June 25, 2015 by stvitusdancern
We all know that Dust Tactics has taken it on the chin this year and we are wondering if they were going to be able to pick themselves up and wipe the dust off and continue on for a brighter future.
With that in mind Dust Studios is giving us options for the future, there will be three choices for the gamer / modeler: the model kit, primed and premium. There has been a lot of chatter and excitement for the model kits, because it gives us options for customization and kit bashing.
I am so glad that there still seems to be life for Dust and it will be interesting to see what the future holds beyond these hints of thing to come. Now Lloyd will have even more to wax lyrical on all things Dust, maybe he can host a new series!

I love Dust and I don’t want to give up on it entirely, but I really want to get the rest of the stuff I paid for before I spend another penny on anything Dust related.
I do agree and will do same thing.
I still buy Dust figures while I wait for the next Kickstarter wave. A lot of companies are trying to dump their stock by offering sales. It’s sad, but I’m willing to grow my collection for such high quality figures. That Fantasy Flight sale at Christmas was insane.
This release is important- a lot of stores saw the kerfluffle over the kickstarter and started clearancing their stock.
Keeping up with proper releases may keep the game alive while they deliver on their kickstarter.
with every new release and announcement you have to wonder why getting the freebies out to people isnt a priority to save face?
I’d love to see Lloyd host a Dust series. It would be good to see something positive about Dust again.
Yes please!
Good idea! I would like it too!
tbh i think its Paolo and Williams responsibility to turn this into something positive, sorry for sounding cynical … but seriously, it would be good to have some reasurance they can still be trusted to keep this thing going and still have a community.
Waiting on 1/3 of my pledge at present – optimistic that I will see everything eventually but so disappointed it has taken so long and so much aggro.
I never played or collected Dust, but it’s going to be hard to trust them after this year…
Not interested in Dust as a game , but could have a lot of fun building stuff if they released the model kits to the LHS .
good i woul prefere to build my models because they never clean mold lines anyway . happy bunny.
I’m glad the universe is still alive. I don’t trust Dust Studios not to mess things up again though. No way I’d risk any money on them.
I’m going to echo the sentiment that I’m not even going to consider buying Dust stuff until the Kickstarter gets sorted out. I’m not even a backer, though; a couple of my friends and FLGS were. Dust Studios needs to take care of that before moving on to other things.
Great about time something positive and yes to the Dust themed articles from Lloyd. Kits for us could not be better music to our ears. Come on and get started, but lest we forget so soon do not scr-w it over this time or you really will have a none starter. Get someone in to sort the new ideas clear away from previous may well be a good start.
Definitely keen to get my stuff too, having used the KS as my intro to the game having watched the previous content on BOW. Despite the KS shenanigans it still seems a great game so hoping that everything does get sorted and then a Dust series hosted by @Lloyd would be awesome so defintely +1 for that. Would like to see the usual faction/unit reviews and tactics, and see it progress from some intro/basic rules stuff similar to the one BoW did a while back but then see how that scales up with more rules, more models and eventually how… Read more »
Glad to see Dust moving forward but as a KS backer I really think their priority should be fulfilling their obligations to the backers and reassuring the community that they really care about their fans.
I’d love to see a dust series on BOW. Its a great game, and it’s nice to see something said/written about it beyond the debacle of the kickstarter.
Not that I would seek to diminish those people’s aggravation. I just want to see the game and the community moving forward.
I’m still buying stuff left right and centre. The problem is its increasingly hard to get. I’d like to see product back on the shelves.
That’s cool for tactics, but I still need a Axis Warfare deck to complete my current collection. I really missed the boat on that one.
unfortunately after the messing about that went on i’d probably be more interested in looking towards the ‘weird war’ bolt action compatible stuff from clockwork goblin that osprey were partnering up with them for.
I’ve looked at it, and to be honest, there’s not much of it yet, and it’s nowhere near as nice.
Hopefully as time goes on that’ll change. The more options out there the better.
Got my fingers burnt with the KS fiasco. Looks like a method for Dust Studios to raise some capital. Comments elsewhere about the high costs of what’s being produced. Reckon Dust has missed the Weird World War boat. Such a shame.
The plastic kit is a good idea! I’m still grumpy about the KS but. How’d they afford all that plastic kit tooling anyways?
Well that’s interesting.
Can I mention here their is an attempt at a positive thread on DUST called completely and utterly DUST here on BoW, where we are trying to take it forwards without any of the politics, we like so many here feel for the KS sufferers, but as I say we are trying to push on through and may be good to read from the beginning to get the flavour of what were trying to do, come on over and have your say it isn’t big but could be and the power to do that is in your hands, so its… Read more »
I already have lots of Dust for all factions, but for a new player to get started when no one sells their stuff anymore hows that gonna work? Its also already becoming overpriced on ebay so for a simple pick up and play game its not so simple anymore .. I invested more than i should have in this system i admit. View it as negative if you like, Im just stating a realistic concern about the missmanagement of the IP.
Could you add a link?
i really like the model kit idea, as a display modeler, i am not pleased with the assembly so far and taking the preassembled kits apart is a real pain in the rear.
Some of the models are cool and I could be tempted if it wasn’t for the incredibly self-centred attitude DS has towards not only it’s business partners (past and present) but all the KS backers. The way things look to an outsider reminds me very much of a previous dodgy business (Maelstrom anyone) that used intended funds for an alternate purpose.
Fortunately there are many other alternatives for those that want to play an alternate WW2 game.
Good luck to those still committed to the game(s) of DUST.
Except that the KS funds went to Battlefront, not Dust Studios.
Much of the KS moulding was already done, especially the walkers, except for some lighter weight ‘desert’ themed canopies.
I love the Dust theme and am steadily buying Axis and Allies armies. Painting my Allies first nod finding the ore primed/assembled not too bad to deal with after the horrors of PPP Confrontation4!
I hope they pull through. I started playing on a whim 4 months ago before I knew about the KS crap. I would hate to have my purchases be in vain. Plus I hate the modeling aspect of this hobby so I love the prebuilt figures and then I love painting them.
Just to clarify the KS funds did indeed go to Battlefront but it was Dust Studios outstanding debts that were paid. Not Battlefronts.
The sooner they deliver the pledges (which looks likely to happen now at least), the sooner we can all put this sorry affair behind us and move on.
when they show signs of taking their brand seriously and apologize to their backers ill probably consider buying new dust stuff .. Im not having alot of trust in DS atm though
well thats Lloyd with trouser tinglings for sure
Having backed that dreadful KS it’d be a cold day in hell before I give Dust or Battlefront another penny.
