I talk with Rob, Marc and John about the Pegasus Bridge battle we just fought out and explain the way it REALLY happened.

Visited Pegasus Bridge last year. The ACTUAL bridge that was there June 6 was disassembled and moved a few hundred yards to a museum right by the Orne Canal. There’s still visible battle damage on the bridge. 🙂 The bridge currently in the original’s place looks very similar, I think it’s just a scaled-up, larger version of the original bridge with a heavier carrying capacity. It MIGHT also be a little longer since that canal has since been widened (???).

Wargame sells two versions of the set. Both can be quite expensive. They do offer a payment plan. Never thought I would use a payment plan for miniatures though. 😉

Listened to a documentary recently in which a German veteran stated that a hero is either drunk or stupid. Perhaps Winston and Jack are proof of the truth in that comment.

Excellent historical brief by @johnlyons . He’s been to the site as well and I think he’ll agree . . . when you’re actually standing there where the first glider landed and look up at the bridge, you get a very eerie feeling. I still regret not going back there after dark, and standing by that first stone marker where the first glider landed, just to get that real “holy ***, this actually happened” moment. @oriskany I too watched Johns video diary. Absolutely wonderful. My friend and I have been planning to run a D-Day vacation for a long time. We were going to tour the same area the Canadians ran during the war. I think I will take your advice and ad the Pegasus bridge into the mix. I like the idea of visiting the original bridge at night. Thanks for sharing.

Well, the original bridge is outdoors at a museum that closes at night. But the replacement bridge of course never closes, and the stone markers that show where the gliders landed are more or less “out in the open.” So I suppose you could go to the glider landing sites and look back toward the replacement bridge at night.
