A thousand and one thanks to the Beasts of War team and the Bolt Action Bootcamp players for helping the WWDDC Project realize this important Pegasus Bridge battle. We all wanted to include Pegasus Bridge in our campaign, but none of our groups had access to such a kickass Pegasus Bridge model to use on our tables. This is great! Thanks again!

Indeed, @unclejimmy was one of our original sign-ups for WWDDC (one battle behind Utah and one behind Gold). Some “real life” stepped in, however, and forced him to regrettably step down. We were definitely sad to lose him, but he’s with us in spirit as we continue with the WWDDC! 😀

Please forgive an old man’s confusion here, but there were no para’s at the initial assault on Pegasus Bridge, they were elements of D’ and B’ company Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, led by Major John Howard. The defending troops, comprised of reduced strength company of ‘Osstruppen’ conscripted and volunteer eastern units, part of the 736th Grenadier regiment. The combination of well trained elite British force, excellent gliding skills, rehearsed attacks, for once, good intelligence, surprise at night, against a weakened (numbers) not particularly well led troops, gave the British more than a little edge! Agreed, and honestly if I had the depth of historical knowledge in my head I definately would have.

No disrespect meant to any of the regiments not mentioned, but in the ‘heat of a boot camp’ we kinda have to go with the flow…

However…

Perhaps today I can address this during an after action report 🙂

@phalanx58 and @torros – When the Beasts of War team agreed to help us out with the WWDDC and Bolt Action Boot Camp, we were naturally thrilled to have the chance for a Pegasus Bridge battle played at the boot camp, and featured in the site. Naturally, as gamers, we’re “at the mercy” of what armies, figures, and lists are available. Then, we had to wait and see which (if any) Bolt Action Boot Camp players might want to run a WWDDC game. That bridge is about epic, isn’t it? When we started setting up the WWDDC and people started selecting parts of Normandy to play in their games, no one wanted to pick Pegasus Bridge despite its fame . . . no one wanted to BUILD the thing! 🙂 Of course, the Beasts of War team is exactly THAT crazy . . . and the results are astounding. From the VLOGs it looks like @johnlyons built / painted most of this thing, and five-star kudos to him for doing so!

Oh, is this the bridge from last year? For some reason I thought you guys lost it in one of the studio moves.

Many apologies then, Chief Engineer Warzan! 🙂 The bridge certainly looks amazing (as many have said), which is why we were so happy it could be plugged into the WWDDC. Like I said, none of **US** wanted to build the thing, despite how important and iconic Pegasus Bridge is to Normandy overall.
