Nice tips to introduce my friends to Bolt Action. I will run demo games this way in my club after the bootcamp.;-)
I ran demo games at my club in much the same way slightly more men and a tank on each side (everyone likes tanks). We now have a core of regular players who had never played anything outside GW before. I found that making the effort with terrain really helped to draw them in.
Nice demo. you kept forgetting the small team minus 1 though, when shooting but as you both did the same it evened itself out and didn’t detract from the fun.
I played a very similar scenario to introduce a mate of mine to the game, worked had a great flow and actually developed into a really fun game as well!
Planning to use very similar lists when I start giving some demos at my local store.
I’ll be using Soviets and Germans, but with a significant difference; I’m using 1/100 scale minis.
At this scale, ranges and troop spread should look more realistic, giving a better sense of scale.
In addition, it makes things really fast and easy to paint, especially since I have already-painted tanks and weapons teams from Flames of War.
Looking at this Demo I really need to get myself and a friend a starterbox. I been playing Flames of War and Hail Caesar but looking for a bit more skirmish game and I think this is right game for that.
Awesome little demo game, especially since it focuses on infantry which is where I think Bolt Action really shines IMHO. Congrats to @dignity on his win over a member of the Warlord staff! Now do we attribute the win to beginner’s luck, or Justin’s superior beard firepower? 😀
ILl be there , happy days Justin, looking forward to grabbing a game possibly with you , theres free pints in it?
Now to catch up on those videos.
