Battlefleet Gothic Armada Teaser Trailer Pops Up Online
May 7, 2015 by brennon
The roar of the engines sent shivers down my spine as I watched the teaser trailer for Battlefleet Gothic Armada above. Check it out and let's hope they don't screw this one up...
The focus of this game as been on a more real time style where you're controlling the fleet a bit like an RTS. The pace will be slow since its huge capital ships powering through the void around each other but there will be enough frenetic action to make for some seriously deadly action.
As well as the basic mechanics there are some Warhammer 40,000 flourishes. You will be able to order your other ships around within a fleet through setting behaviours to react to certain situations. A captain might however ignore these orders and take the route they see as the best course of action. You can then execute the captain if you feel like it!
You will not only get to control the Imperials but also Chaos, Orcs and even Eldar through the campaign although multiplayer will focus on combatants having an even playing field with both set as the Imperial Navy.
If you'd like to read more about the mechanics of the game HERE as Rock, Paper, Shotgun got a look at it earlier in the year.
The trailer above shows the two big factions of the game for Abaddon and his Black Crusade facing off against the Imperial Navy.
Will you be getting this?

Excitement overload!!
I was worried at first. Thank goodness this will not be a miniatures game. I still have the old metal ship and digital versions are much cheaper on the wallet.
I don’t think a miniatures version could compete anymore, TBH, with Spartan Games’ Firestorm Armada, and now Hawk Wargames’ amazing models for fleet actions in conjunction with Dropzone Commander.
Might be worth a look as a digital game, though, as long as it’s got more meat than the tabletop version.
You actually played and collected the tabletop version then? Because its quite a meaty game in its own right, easily as good as if not better than firestorm armada (I play both games).
I played it at the store on three occasions when it was still supported, and watched several other games while I contemplated whether or not to get into it. In the end it wasn’t for me. The Firestorm miniatures, imo, look much better, even if game play is similar. I was about to get into them when Hawk announced it would be coming out with a fleet game to compliment Dropzone Commander. The miniatures, as usual, are stunning, which was all the incentive I needed to wait for the game. If Hawk’s rules don’t appeal to me, I’ll go back… Read more »
Looking forward to this and also wish that GW would bring this back as an all plastic miniature range game.
Fook yeah!!
Cool trailer. I think about what if GW would re-launch the miniature BFG, especially considering the “new kids on the block” like Hawks new teased game. Not sure who would win that, exciting new take on both spaceship battle setting (ie orbital fights) or the WH40k (in my mind) stronger “fluff” setting.
Nice. When do we get digital Necromunda?
Where is the Emperor class?
That does look very good and captures the feel nicely.
Battlefleet Gothic:Backgammon
lol.
I’ll hold out for GorkaMorka:Uno or the GOTY 2016 candidate that is Bejeweled:Necromunda
Battlefleet Crush Saga
that looks dam good.
Pretty excited for this. While quite a few of GW’s recent mobile games have been jaw-droppingly bad, their track record (across several developers) for full-blooded PC games is pretty good. I came onboard with Shadow of the Horned Rat and have played almost everything they’ve released up to DoW 2: Retribution. Age of Reckoning was the only real dud for me. When they stick to RTS they’ve always found companies that do them justice. My only issue with this is the mention of the online competitive being Imperial v Imperial. To my ears that suggests a lazy answer to poor… Read more »
Minorities always shout the loudest, while the rest of is are still having a good time irrelevant.
So it seems GW have shipped out another of their IPs to a rather little known game studio with a not particularly fantastic track record.
Sigh
Interesting, now just make a digital version of their tabletop game and i may even consider buying it… may…
Like Mordheim you mean?
Ok then…too bad they won’t show anything of the actual game. Naff trailer.
It’s frustrating but, in their defense, it’s only a teaser trailer and those never show actual gameplay. It’s fairly standard practice right across the gaming spectrum.
When i saw the post i thought Fantasy Flight was bringing out a GW version of their Star Wars Armada .they do have an arrangement with GW . To be honest I think I would prefer the Fantasy Flight thing
I’ve always had a soft spot for BFG. I will defininetly check this out, and keep (probably forlornly) hoping that we will see a new edition of tabletop BFG one of these days.
Linked BFG, Epic, and 40k level games were great fun, especially in campaign settings, and really conveyed the scope of the 40K lore. It looks like (the admittedly rather excellent) Dropzone/fleet Commander will be takling over that type of gaming in the future, at least for the moment.
I still play Homeworld
Cool but I’d like the miniatures game back 🙁
