Make Aradia Miniatures’ Green Knight Project A Reality!
May 7, 2015 by brennon
Aradia Miniatures have a fantastic project up on IndieGoGo looking to fund the production of The Green Knight in 75mm inspired by the character from Arthurian Legend...
Ride Out Of Legend
The Green Knight is a project with sculptor Benoit Cauchies and hopes to bring this bearded warrior to life for a great many people. As you can see it is a fantastic model packed with detail and it's awesome to see how much you can do with green!
The final product will come to you in high quality resin, the components of which you can see below...
It all looks like it goes together quite nicely as a kit too which is a big bonus. No time wasted fiddling around with awkward components. I particularly like that they've made the Knight himself quite an aged man and that the horse has motifs of the Green Man all across its armour.
Other Legends...
It's not just the Green Knight that could be part of this campaign however as Aradia have plans to sculpt up both Krampus and and Mawhi too if they reach a high enough total on the project.
If the quality of these sculpts is anywhere near the quality of the Green Knight we've seen above then I reckon we're in for one hell of a treat when it comes to this project. Painters are going to have a lot of interesting new techniques to learn!
What do you think of the miniature?

Not sure if it is the painting and/orthe sculpting, but the horse looks like it has come from a merry-go-round.
Not keen on the mane
Do love the posture of the Green Knight.
We see a fair number of equestrian sculpts but the riders do not always sit well on their mounts.
Despite my reservations, I still would like the model.
The only reason it won’t come into my collection is going to be cost, and knowing that it would sit unmade in a draw for ever and a day 🙁
Yes! The body is a bit short, if not for that it would be a very good horse.
As sculpt this is really good but did they have to paint that horse also green and not just armor parts.

I love the style of the armour on the horse and knight 🙂
I’m always a little disappointed when I see cool looking minis that are in large scales like this. Otherwise, I could totally justify getting him as an RPG character, but I’m not likely to paint up something in that large a scale.
Really, it’s nice… but… The horse is all wrong. Stiff, short body, stupid pose. And overall it’s not detailed enough to “wow” for a 75mm miniature… There’s already better on the market, no need to kickstart anything of the sort until we see something more impressive, methinks.
Other than the paint I don’t see a lot of “green” on this knight, he looks like just a regular old knight model, I think Sean Connery in Sword of The Valiant is much more green knightish.
Also I think doing 75mm is going to keep a lot of people away.
It won’t necessarily keep people away… I mean, there IS a market for these models, for display. A lot of people are doing it, it does sell… it’s just not your cup of tea. As for geing “green”, well, he’s a lot more faithful to the Arthurian legend that describes him as a very wide-shouldered and heavily bearded fellow of undefinable age. And he wears no helmet, because he plays teh decapitation game, probably. And vines do seem to be spiralling everywhere on this sculpt. So, I have no problem with that part here… It’s just not that amazingly detailed… Read more »
And what’s with the whole jagged lines on top of armor these days? makes everything looks like a Circle Orboros miniature from Hordes.
It hails back to the Confrontation days and they were the trendsetters and still are if you look, even though the company is no more.
They still are trendsetters… especially since you can look up the sculptors and illustrators and painters who worked for them and see who they work for/with now…
