Scibor Release a New Wave of Sci-Fi… er Knights
June 24, 2011 by dracs
Guys over at Scibor have been hard at work with three new sci-fi models now available.
First there is the Celtic Lord.
Sorry, but I just don't like it. To me the stance looks like he's dragging his foot behind him and the way he holds his gun just jars for me. He isn't even looking where he's pointing his gun.
Now this is a much better figure and I especially like the halberd. Even the shoulder pads aren't too over the top, which has always been a pet peeve of mine. Say what you like, I just don't think models should look like their heads would be crushed if anyone ever yelled "put your hands up for Detroit".
Over shadowing all of these is the Archangel.
I think this model looks fantastic. The stance is a little static and he looks slightly splayed footed, but over all it is just a really nice looking mini. I am especially impressed by the framing effect of the wings.
But that's enough of me nattering on, what do you guys think?
BoW Sam
Only thing i like is the beard ^^
The painting on that one is superb!
I get the point of these kind of companies – but I cant help thinking what if these sculptors put their efforts into something of their own design and used some actual creativity rather than making unoriginal knockoffs of an already unoriginal game-setting.
I think I have just seen the model for my chapter primarch…….the sons of corax shall rise again….
The Arcangel with the demons head almost reminds me of Sanguinus holding the bloodthirsters head, obviously coincidence. Its not a bad model though, usually Scibor don’t do much for me but this I quite like
and why does the first model look like the organiser of Glastonbury , Micheal Eavis

the last one is obviously intended to be Sanguinious ,nice model too, the middle one is probably the best sculpt in terms of overall pose, the top one I largely agree has a bit of an iffy pose, but the detail they put on these knight minis is outstanding by and large, that wolfie one especially.
The not-a-space-wolf suffers from the same flaws the other “celtic” scibor miniatures do: weird leg poses and horrible looking guns, in addition to this he’s holding the gun above his eyeline which would make it impossible, or at least more difficult to aim.
The not-a-custodes isn’t terrible, but to me the bottom of the staff doesn’t look finished.
Not-Sanguinus looks pretty good but it feels like its missing detail on the leading edge of the wings.
I liked the celtic guy at first and then i saw what you meant abut the dragging foot and hes not looking where hes shooting. Still, hes well painted though.
i wonder what the scale of these models is, like is the sangu …….. i mean scribor original design for an angelic sci fi knight big enought to be a primarch (54 mm roughly) or is he just a SM (28mm) with wings
Nothing wrong with not sighting the gun, heroes do it all the time in movies often 2 guns in 2 directions at the same time! shows that they are so good they don’t need to aim. And other manufacturers make their models resemble GW ones, so you will buythem for your WH armies – makes sense.
Another amazing set, OMG it’s a custodian!!
