Scibor’s Deep One Bust Shows Its Fishy Face
April 23, 2015 by dracs
Scibor Miniatures were recently showing off the plinth for an upcoming Lovecraftian bust. Since then, the Deep One it was made for has appeared in all his fishy beauty.
This Deep One is an interesting take on Lovecraft's classic race of mutants. Usually we get to see Deep Ones when they are either still mostly human or completely transformed into fish people. This one seems to be a highly advanced case of the Innsmouth look, with more clearly defined scales and spines making for a harsh, aquatic look, while the remains of human features are still distinguishable.
All in all, Scibor have done a fantastic job with this bust so far. They have managed to come up with a new and distinctly vicious looking Deep One. I personally am looking forward to seeing this once a painter gets their hands on it, as there is certainly plenty to work with here.
What do you imagine when you picture a Deep One?

I normally find Deep Ones boring, but this one is rather good with the amount of mutation and twisted features.
Wow, this is one of Scibors strengths and I hope they keep doing busts like this.
Not that, but that is stunning. Birthday present sorted. I guess my ‘vision’ of a deep one comes from exposure to the old grenedier minis when I was a boy. Again, that is a 10/10 from me. D.x
He is one ugly mother! Love it 😀
looks fantastic 🙂 love all the weathered and aged looking scales 🙂
has a lot of personality in the facial expression too 🙂
… maybe it’s just me, but somehow he seems to look more sad than angry 😛
… awwww, poor little deep one 😛 ha ha
