Not long ago we talked about a new game coming out of Studio Tomahawk called Congo which had you playing as explorers, tribesmen, slavers and more in the darkest depths of Africa. Since then we've seen some more preview images of the game in action and it makes us think of some really cool stories yet to be told!

Colonials

Tribesmen

The first thing that sprung out at me was a look at some of the factions for the game which you can see above. As well as the European 'settlers' you have the native tribesmen from the region. It looks like it's going to be skirmish level gaming, to the same degree that SAGA is, with a decent number of miniatures per side but nothing too unwieldy.

Crocodile Hunting

Rhino Hunt

These pictures, while also quite hilarious (especially the rhino one) also could potentially hint at the game having secret terrain that comes out to attack both sides as you're playing. I love this kind of narrative tabletop experience and I hope that becomes the case. Africa does have a lot of wildlife after all.

Gorilla

Talking of wildlife see what you make of this solitary great ape. Maybe this is the one that the cannibals worship for his supernatural long life and strength? Here's where the game could easily drop into Pulp, Punk, Horror & Weird territory!

Is your interest in Congo growing?
