Command Your Gates Of Antares Nuhu With The Masterful Mandarin
April 4, 2015 by brennon
If you're looking for someone to command your Concord in battle for Beyond The Gates of Antares then how about picking up the Nuhu Mandarin from Warlord Games?
I strangely much prefer the rear of this model than I do the front since I think the detail on the cloak and weapon from that side looks a lot better than the armoured front. I suppose that's a good idea since I'll be seeing a lot more of the rear of the models than I will the front one would hope!
"All worlds of the Concord are encased in a nanosphere – a cloud of nanorobotic machines that acts as a universal medium of communication and micro-energy transference. By this means worlds and ultimately the whole concord is run and directed by the data-driven machine-minds of the IMTel and its NuHu Mandarin elite."
Apart from the strange withered looking legs on the model (it might just be my perspective) I think this is quite a dangerous and interesting looking commander for the battlefield and it will be fun to see how they work on the tabletop.
What do you think of the Mandarin?

Nice model, Antares needs more dynamic models.
That looks really nice.
This is the first model I like form this line. Nice simple motion.
If you can float why would you need beefy legs ?
Neat. I like him.
Agree with the others. This is the first BotA model that I actually think is pretty good. Not amazing, but good. The majority of the line I find to be rather “meh”.
But the rules…I’m liking the rules I’ve read so far. A lot. Were I to get into this game I would take the historical gamer route and use a different miniature line. Probably converted Dreamforge minis.
Pretty sure I’ve seen this model before: http://privateerpress.com/files/products/circle-orboros/warlocks/krueger-the-stormlord.png
I’ll be adding that model to my Antares collection.
I really wasn’t impressed with this stuff until a buddy of mine got me some of the models. They are a lot better in person I to say.
The models are definitely better once you get your hands on them. For some reason the photographs never seem to do them justice.
For some reason, I actually prefer the physical model of the NuHu Mandarin to the digital render that Warlord put out a few months ago. I also like the natty little Drone that accompanies him.
It was announced some time ago on the Beyond the Gates of Antares Facebook page that a female NuHu Mandarin model is also planned for the future. Here is the digital render.
