Scibor Fire Off a Volley of Dwarf Cannoneers
April 1, 2015 by dracs
Scibor Monstrous have released their latest unit of armoured dwarfs, lugging their cannons to give to bring the bearded warriors some heavy hitting fire power.
Scibor have managed to create an interesting selection of steampunk power-armoured dwarves for this unit. Complete with a banner bearer and drummer, these minis go together to make a formidable ranged unit for your army.
I have previously been rather negative about these dwarves, and while I still don't like just how chunky and immobile they look in that armour, I do love the idea of dwarves armed with miniature cannons. I hope I see some of these turning up as an alternative unit in Warhammer or Kings of War. At the very least, it will be fun watching them try to walk in all that.
What are your thoughts on Scibor's doughty cannoneers?

Those are really good.
The armor is even better than the heavy troops they already produce!
Something about how the arms join the body, seems a little off for some of the models at least.
From the picture of the models from the back, it looks as though they are entirely different models (i.e. there seems to be much less detail).
Again, looking at the picture from the back, the very little detail on the guns themselves seems rather jarring (it almost seems unfinished) when you compare with how things look at the front. Maybe it would look better with a paintjob / drilling?
Not sure what that thing is on their back. Would need to take the Dremel to hollow out that gun barrel, or come up with some kind of longer sleeve to fit over it. Front on, they remind me of that Forgeworld fellow we just saw. Nice sculpts!
Hmmm… now that I think of it, I’m still looking for a command group for my dwarf artillery brigade. And my birthday is coming. Coincidence? I think not!
I am happy to add these to my to paint mountain and possibly will if the boss says ok. cpauls1 you are spot on with the need to have those barrels drilled which given their otherwise great sculpt it’s my only fault and yes I agree again the dremel would remove the backs and replace them with large over flowing bags for the ammo and the powder. They look like they’ve just run around a corner and bumped into a dragon or something, hence that static shocked look and expression. That or they need a round of liver salts.
Now that I’ve had time to think on it @chrisg , I have some dragon heads, and yes, they are dollar store extra’s *pause while everyone rolls eyes*, that I think might fit on there, thus saving me some precise drill work, which I do often, but poorly. That option could easily save half the models!
I like the idea of powder on the back… a keg maybe? Or two? One for booze, one for powder 🙂 . Grinding off the back wouldn’t have to be as precise.
