Holy Anniversary! Adam West and Burt Ward Return for Batman Movie
March 31, 2015 by dracs
Adam West and Burt Ward, the stars of the classic 1960s Batman TV series, announced at last weekend's Mad Monster Party in Charlotte that they would once again become the dynamic duo in a special 50th anniversary animated movie!
The 1960s Batman TV show first broadcast on January 12th 1966 and will be reaching its 50th anniversary next year. The show, while incredibly campy and silly, was the first portrayal of the Dark Knight on television, introducing many to the comics' characters and has since gained a cult following for its fun plots, fights and gags.
This new animated film will reportedly appear next year to mark the anniversary. Featuring the voices of the original Caped Crusaders, the movie will be a full 90 minute piece, hopefully recapturing something of the charm of the original 60s show.
Not much more than this has been revealed yet, but I think that it is safe to say that this will be exciting news for any long time fans of the show. The Dark Knight has been so unrelentingly... well dark lately, that it will be fun to look back at a time where it wasn't unknown for him to break out into dance.

And still the best Batman on big or small screen
I’m cringing a little but still want to see it. I have no idea how that is going to go!
Back as kid I really liked 60’s Batman series and I watched reruns all the time.
Holy priceless collection of Etruscan snoods, Batman!!
I prefer Batman dark and gritty (the 90’s animated series was my fave) but I agree – this would be awesome if it recaptures the cheese and light fun of the 60’s series!
Those guys were so high. D.x
I wonder if Robin will still hide his bulge with his cape in the long shots? Show almost got banned because of that!
I’d love to see Adam West return as Bruce Wayne in a live action Batman Beyond.
Some of the best one-liners and double entendres ever. Bruce telling everyone “it’s time we exposed dick to everyone.” I hope he was refering to his youthful ward! D.x
“The show, while incredibly campy and silly, was the first portrayal of the Dark Knight on television.” It says at the start of this item. This isn’t the dark knight – it is Batman!
Neither was it the first portrayal of Batman on TV…
The only other ones I can think of before Adam West was the two film serials done in the 40’s. Was there another in between?
