Watchful I Bang The War Drums Of The Chinese Warring States
March 16, 2015 by brennon
Watchful I Studios have been busy over the weekend coming up with some additional concept art and planning on the additional support models that will make up their Chinese Warring States armies when they hit Kickstarter. Bring on the banging of the War Drums!
As well as the War Drums above they've also added in some concept sketches of the Repeating Crossbowmen and the early Catapult design from the period. I'm loving how all of this is turning out and I could see the War Drums especially being part of a massive diorama that sits within a unit as a big 'filler' piece.
It will be interesting to see if they keep that pose for one of the Repeater Crossbowmen frantically trying to reload his weapon!
The Light Cavalry have also got a run out once again with a look at how they're shaping up with their spears ready. I think some of the armour design and regalia of this period of Chinese history is fascinating to look at from a historical point of view and provides interesting choices for you as a painter too. With a lot of fabric to paint you have the chance to try things like patterns as well as flat colours.
Will you be following this with interest?

I think the concepts and renders look great. The big problem, those who want to build a large fantasy army won’t pledge unless it funds enough for plastic, while historical gamers may prefer metals.
That’s true. Hopefully their Chinese Fantasy ideas will take shape and attract a lot of pledgers.
