MYTH Journeyman Expansion Kickstarter Begins!
March 9, 2015 by brennon
The MYTH: Journeyman Kickstarter from Megacon Games for their adventuring board game of the same name has kicked off and they're already powering on towards their target (at time of writing) and stretch goals galore...
Each of the different boxes come with their own challenges, enemies and indeed heroes that you can take on new swashbuckling trips into the unknown. Blackwall Warrens and Shores of Kanis are both available through the various pledge levels you can see below...
As you can see you can either pick up one of the boxes as a singular purchase or just grab both of them and get all the more gaming in. Here's a bit more about each of the expansions...
Shores of Kanis
"The kingdom of the Okian lies at the heart of sun-scorched Kanis. It is a sand-blasted land where massive stone monuments rise to honor the dark master Anunkara, Keeper of the Dead."
Blackwall Warrens
"Under the sprawling ruins of the once great trading city of Blackwall lies the Knot. The maze of tunnels house uncounted evils. In the deep dark of the warrens courage is tested and fear takes hold."
...and what's new?
- 5 "light" Journeyman Hero decks (Shores of Kanis)
- 5 "dark" Journeyman Hero decks (Blackwall Warrens)
- New Heroes: Swashbuckler and the Outsider
- Commander class monsters
- New Bosses, Mini-bosses, Captains, and Minions
- Orange tier weapons and gear
- Gold tier armor sets
- Dual wielding
- Malice pool
- Myth Module System
- New realm tiles
- New traps
- New titles
- Capture and Interrogate rules
- Bar Fight alternate game mode
All of this sounds pretty awesome and the addition of some interesting new enemies that are all sculpted up very nicely is always nice. We've always loved the look of the semi-realistic sculpting that you get with MYTH and most of the Megacon Games so it's good to see that talent and artistry still present in the new miniatures/pieces.
The dashing Swashbuckler is a duel weilding weapons master and follows the path of light. He can rely on his secondary weapon and an extra fate dice to trigger it's power. Like any dashing hero he is also better when surrounded by enemies in the middle of the fighting.
The Outside is a bit different in that he uses the Malice system and follows the path of Darkness. By using the power of the Darkness and manipulating the utilisation of Malice he can augment his cards and make them more powerful. He can even manipulate the Darkness metre itself into doing what he wants.
Both are very cool new heroes and an excuse to just pick up both of them rather than having to settle for just one expansion. I imagine most of you are probably thinking that already.
You can find out more about the game in the video above where the guys from Megacon talk about the world of MYTH and Journeyman. Don't forget the new MYTH 2.0 Rules are also now available to streamline your games.
Will you be questing again in MYTH?

I’m in!
It´s an awesome game with great minis, good artwork and superb gameplay, backed the first kickstarter campain and am back for more!
Given the plethora of kickstarters at the moment and a self imposed ban to stay away from such things when I have had a beer, I will not be participating in this one despite having backed Myth and Recon.
I have also hardly played Myth and don’t think this will add much for me at the moment. I am however looking forward to trying the v2.0 rules as the v1.0 felt a bit lackluster.
Backed, I love Myth
Unexpectatly I’m on the fence….
Though I highly doubt I can not be persuaded before the campaign is through.
Those shipping charges might just push you in the other direction.
Cant believe no base game option available outside the US and Canada
I was already for Hero level until saw there was no UK option
Brian stated you can purchase Myth locally (UK) for less that you can in the Hero pledge (remember shipping is being added at the end). It is a better deal for you to pickup Myth in retail, then back Journeyman at the Minion level.
I was so excited for this… but no, it’s only an expansion set… so disappointed! I don’t have $250+ to invest in their KS campaign. I’ll wait for MythV2 core box to hit my FLGS.
@invisibleclam: It is not only an expansion but the continuity of the game. It is what will allow you to bring the characters to the next level.
i’ve been putting money aside for this and I jumped in as soon as I could. I like the fact they included the 2.0 rules and cards in every pledge levels. I missed the first kickstarter but I managed to get the base game anyway… These extensions will really add to the base game and provide my friends and I with hours of gameplay! Let’s unlock those stretch goals!
I do like the look of both minion types and they hold a nice comic look to them.
I’ve backed this purely for the 2.0 printed materials so I can update my core box properly- at $6 that’s reasonable enough for me! Tempted by Shores of Kanis, but I think I’ll hang fire and wait for the retail release down the line after feeling a little burned on the last Myth KS…
6 bucks seems like a nice buyin, but minimum shipping is $25, which looks pretty steep. On the plus side, the FAQ on the bottom of the KS campaign says you can get the v2 printed materials for free if you already own the game. But that just raises further questions.
Will be giving this one a miss I’m afraid. I pledged for MERCS Recon and the MERCS 2nd edition stuff. MYTH does look good, but I didn’t get it as I kept hearing stories about rules issues all the time (then again, MERCS had issues as well to start with). I like that MCG have now done a new rulebook for this and from what I saw, it does look as if it would play better compared with the old rules. I pledged for Dungeon Sagas instead. Maybe I’ll get into MYTH at a later date, but for now I’m… Read more »
@kommissar: The rules issues have been taken care of with the new 2.0 rulebook and the new cards (included with every pledge or available on their own). I went through the free download PDF and many questions are now being answered and aspects of the game are now easier to understand.
A good job from Megacon Games!
