    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Question of the week:

    • Why do companies not keep their homepages updated? Why do they only feed Facepage and stuff like that?

And now back to the show.

Pledge: try to get the second part of my “finding a new goblin green” filmed, maybe finish the murder teddies and than some.

    Answer:

I don’t know but I wish I knew. What made me bring up this question was that I’ve been seeing new Star Wars Legion stuff come up and nothing on the AMG website. I made it a habbit of checking hobby related stuff in my bookmarks once a week at least. Latest entry on AMG homepage was in December 2024. Since then they did multiple posts on Facepage.

I don’t get. You’ve already taken the pictures, you’ve already written the text why don’t you just “copy and pasta” it on your homepage? Yes, it’s 10 minutes more work but given how some social medias are changing right now you’re not hyping up all your customers.  Why?! I don’t understand.

Please, do take care of your homepages. When facepage & co. go the way of Myspace and Geocities you’ll be glad to have all your content still online.

Enough of me whining once again. Have some music:

I also find it frustrating that they don’t update websites as often as the anti-social media.

Maybe it’s because the younger generations can’t put their phones down and they get updates sent to them.

Websites you have to visit for updates.

I don’t do anti-social media like facecrook and others.

The sad part about that is: it’s not like you need to go and look. If implemented correctly most website already have an RSS feed that you can just subscribe to and have all the news in one place. Even OTT has feeds for news and comments!

They’re not catering for older generation of gamers who have time to browse and read articles.

They use short updates with pictures to capture the attention of those with limited attention span.

    Pledge: paint a Monolith!

Pages: I don’t use social media, full stop. Companies that do won’t get their message to me. Update your real website…

The book of faesces requires zero effort to maintain and update. No need to worry about having the latest version of whatever content management you’re using. Just click and post. Any HR and Marketing droid can do it.

Websites need proper maintenance, updates, money and capable personell to work flawlessly.
We’ve seen the effect when companies thought they could do it on the cheap by hiring a certain web elf …

I think it’s why a lot of webshops tend to have the same backend as well (Shopify appears to be very popular).

It’s a damned shame how folk within the industry take websites for granted, because that means they set themselves up for even bigger disasters once Zuckerberg & co decide to change the terms of the agreement. I’ve seen far too many ‘mistakes’ / ‘incidents’ to consider them to be reliable for anything. And I’m using air quotes, because I believe they do it on purpose whenever it benefits them.

We’d have to see a world class catastroph before people give up on the big social media sites though. Far too many addicts out there that don’t understand how much of their privacy they have given to big tech. Never mind the negativity that social media websites in general tend to feed upon.

My copy of Clash arrived. ( https://gamefound.com/en/projects/elwin-klappe/clash-d-day-special-edition )
I hope to get some time to organise my hobby room as well as unpack what hobby gear I’ve got from the various boxes.
