The Empire Of Man Joins Warhammer: The Old World Soon

Games Workshop are taking pre-orders for the newest faction to get its full release for Warhammer: The Old World. The Empire Of Man is getting an Arcane Journal plus plenty of plastic, metal and resin releases in the new year.
Arcane Journal: Empire Of Man // Warhammer: The Old World
The Arcane Journal comes with additional rules, background lore and scenarios for use with Warhammer: The Old World. It isn't required for using an Empire Of Man army but it does come with bonus ways for you to explore the faction and the way you build your armies. You'll find characters like Harald Gemunsen, Grand Master Of The Knights Panther, and General Hans von Löwenhacke plus Armies Of Infamy like the Knightly Orders and the City-state of Nuln. You will also find magical items to enhance your characters on the field of battle.
A set of accessories will also be available including transfers, reference cards and dice.

The Transfer Sheet is rather impressive, especially since it comes with so many different designs for the various provinces of the Empire. You also have the Reference Cards which can be handy in a pinch and the dice which look very nice indeed. Having Ghal Maraz on the six-facing is a nice touch and means they could always be very fitting for The Mortal Realms as well.
Empire Of Man Battalion
A good starting point for the Empire Of Man might be the new Empire Of Man Battalion which comes with a host of plastic miniatures.

The set comes with the rumbling Steam Tank as well as enough components to make thirty State Troops and thirty State Missile Troops. You will also get two of the Infantry Transfer Sheets so you can enhance those shields and banners.
Returning Miniatures
We've had a look at some of what Games Workshop are bringing back to the tabletop for the Empire Of Man in the past so here's a little highlight of the plastic, metal and Forge World resin miniatures that you'll be able to use to enhance your army.
Free Company Militia // Warhammer: The Old World
The rather hefty Free Company Militia set is going to be making a return. I am going to be getting one of these boxed sets so I can make a bunch of different warbands for Mordheim! This was the kit for making Reiklanders, Middenheimers and Marienburgers!
Other plastic sets include the Pistoliers, Imperial Knights, Demigryphs and more. You will also be able to get the magnificent General/Wizard Lord On Imperial Griffon.

Commanders Of The Empire is also a good set for those wanting to build their characters for Empire armies. You have enough components to make one mounted and one on-foot character. Make yourself a great Captain and your Battle Standard Bearer as you can see below.

Plenty of classic metal sets will also be making an appearance like the Teutogen Guard Warriors that were released as part of the Storm Of Chaos. If you'd prefer to support Middenheim in The Old World then these are going to be good additions to your force. Show your dedication to Ulric!

Even older miniatures will be popping up like the Imperial Ogres! Ogre mercenaries have often been found within the Empire and so it's good to see these classic sculpts making a reappearance. They could be a good buy for someone seeking to finish off their Oldhammer army from back in the day.

You can also get some impressive Forge World resin miniatures like this set, the ostentatious Empire Of Man Command Set. It comes with an impressive Battle Standard Bearer, a General Of The Empire and a Harbinger Of Doom.

This is by no means all of the releases coming out to support the full release of the Empire Of Man. There will be plenty more on the way in the new year. I hope it won't be long until we see the return of the High Elves to The Old World!
Could you be tempted by the Empire Of Man as an army in the new year?

Old miniatures: UNITE!
Gotta say, if I was going to get Ogres, I would probably buy a box of the Wargames Atlantic Ogre Landsknechts. I love me some old nostalgia but those Ogres look very, very dated now.
They most certainly do! Nostalgia doesn’t do much for them, for me, anyway. And I remember when they were current…
I also remember when they were current. I don’t think the Empire Ogres were ever particularly good miniatures, the dogs of war were better
Oh yeah, the Dogs of War range was a lot of fun. I had a good sized DoW army, pretty much all the units. They weren’t a whole lot of fun to play, but fun to collect.
No shame at all: I’m ordering some of these. The Free Company Militia still holds up well, but those ogres… glad I got the Wargames Atlantic ones.
