Pendraken Release War Of Independence Minis For Christmas
December 20, 2024 by brennon
As a bit of an early Christmas present, Pendraken Miniatures released new 10mm Clib sculpted sets for their American War Of Independence range. There are plenty of additional items for the Americans and the British but other European powers interested in the struggle like the Germans!
American Dismounted Dragoons // Pendraken Miniatures
The American War Of Independence doesn't seem to be played as much as the American Civil War but that might be because we've been bombarded with Civil War miniatures and games over the last couple of years. The War Of Independence does provide you with an interesting playground for you to dive into both hobby and wargaming.
Naval Landing Party // Pendraken Miniatures
You can get stuck in and build up both American and British forces for the period and really hone in on the classic clashes but there is also plenty of room for you to start exploring different nations and the influence they had over the fluctuating power struggle happening across The Pond.
Brunswick Dragoons // Pendraken Miniatures
You might also find that you get more chances to work on and paint up a selection of more flamboyant miniatures. The Civil War is a lot of grey and blue (for the most part) but the War Of Independences brings in a lot more of those more Napoleonic-esque choices when it comes to uniforms and hats. They always have really nice hats.

The War Of Independence also seems like a great place to look when it comes to campaign play. You could have one player taking on the role of the plucky Americans trying to oust the British whilst the other is seeking to try and hold out as long as possible whilst they wait for support that might not even come! You could then throw in more players from your gaming group to play as the other Nations sticking their oars in, trying to make the most of the chaos.
It helps that these 10mm miniatures from Pendraken are looking rather nice indeed. There is a lot of detail in them, especially on the Cannon Crew that you can see above. They should make for excellent painting in the new year! See more of what they recently added to their collection HERE.
What do you think of these Pendraken offerings for the American War Of Independence?

Pendrakens’ AWI range (as well as the League of Ausburg stuff) is sculpted by “N’Iron’s” very own Clib. I do feeel he’s probably the best when it comes to 10mm AND when he does a new pack there’s always a gazillion alternate poses in each pack (which makes his stuff really stand out). Been doing a lot of research lately on the AWI and referencing ORBATS etc. Units on both sides historically were usually were around 300 men on the field (I wonder if we’ve also been keeping too much to the “paper strength” for Black Powder games like Napoleonics,… Read more »
AWI is a really nice blackpowder setting as the battles were smaller than European scraps. Skirmish games work well. I have been Interested in going some 10m gor the period after completing my 28m collection
