Bloody Miniatures are adding another great set to their 28mm English Civil War range. You can now get your hands on the "Bloody Guns" which are going to help lay down some supporting fire during your English Civil War encounters as either the Royalists or the Parliamentarians.

Battlement Guns & Robinet #1 - Bloody Miniatures

Big cannons were of course used for the larger battles of the English Civil War but because there were many more small, localised conflicts, there was often a need to get smaller guns out from town armouries to support the war effort for either side.

Both sides would be able to get their hands on the likes of Battlement Guns which were small "swivel" guns; light cannons that could be used on adjustable mounts or as wheeled trundles. They were used to repel attacks and found themselves used in a lot of defensive work. At short range, they could be handy at taking down charging soldiers trying to assail your walls or clamber over your barricades.

The other type of gun featured as part of this collection is the Robinet. This was a mid-17th Century weapon with a bronze barrel, firing a small round. The Robinet could be dragged around by two men but could also be pulled by a single horse as well. A good way to get a gun to where it was needed.

These weapons would be prime candidates for the smaller skirmishes of the English Civil War which took place in villages and towns. They would also be good for the Thirty Years' War. It's great that we're getting to learn more information about the period with each of Bloody Miniatures' releases. I love it!

These are just some of the upcoming releases from Bloody Miniatures with much more coming down the pipeline.
