Firelock’s New Characters For Your Blood & Plunder Crews
November 27, 2024 by brennon
Firelock Games has released many new miniatures for those diving into games of Blood & Plunder and Port Royal. These are all brand-new resin miniatures for you to use when supplementing your crews.
European Officer // Firelock Games
We start with a European Officer who can be used to lead many different crews in your games. This is an 18th Century-style Officer who can be used throughout the various crews in Raise the Black, the expansion for Blood & Plunder.
If you're looking to find some solace in religion when on the high seas, you might also call on the aid of this Priest. You might also find him getting chased around town by pirates and the natives who aren't entirely happy with him being in the New World.
Priest // Firelock Games
The Catholic Church sent priests to aid in the growth of the Spanish Empire in the New World. Whilst the Franciscan order was often peaceful, they could join in the fighting to protect their communities when danger struck. As long as you have a mace you should be fine.
Taking to the high seas, you will often need a good man watching over the black powder and getting the cannons ready to go. The Master Gunner can now be picked up from Firelock Games for your crews.
Master Gunner // Firelock Games
This fellow means that your crews are going to fire faster and more effectively. They also don't mind getting stuck in and firing the cannons themselves. When things go south, they also have a cutlass at hand for battling during boarding actions.
Sometimes the fighting goes badly and you'll need to call on a Surgeon to help get your crew back on their feet.
Surgeon // Firelock Games
A Surgeon was vital to a crew, especially among the buccaneers and pirates who couldn't find "official" medical aid. Many joined as volunteers but there were often surgeons who were forced to serve in a crew against their will, captured during raids on towns and ports. Let's hope you've made a friend of the surgeon when you're lying on his table.
New Units
As well as the new characters, you can also get your hands on two new Units for use in Blood & Plunder. Spanish Hostigadores are getting ready to do a bit of hit-and-run skirmishing.
Spanish Hostigadores // Firelock Games
Spanish Hostigadores were a militia that put up resistance for years against the English in Jamaica. They also look dashing, complete with fancy facial hair and plenty of good gear. I could see these fellows rushing through the jungle, taking potshots as they go.
If you're looking to hold the line, you can also snap up the European Pikemen.
European Pikemen // Firelock Games
Many of the colonies established in the New World would bring over their soldiers trained in the use of pikes. These were very helpful in fighting against other European powers who would end up using cavalry against them. They might not be quite as useful when fighting against skirmishing native forces who use the land to their advantage and pirates who are most likely to just dodge around you and find a way to stab you in the back.
Cursed Treasure!
Last but not least, we also have the Cursed Treasure Marker which is an awesome little addition to a Blood & Plunder or Port Royal collection.
Cursed Treasure Marker // Firelock Games
Buried under a pile of gold, this pirate has met a terrible end. Fighting to the last to defend his treasure didn't do him any favours. Now, the treasure is cursed and might end up costing your crew dear! This would also be a great miniature for other Pulp-based games as well.
What do you make of Firelock's new releases?
