In the spirit of continuity …
    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    Introduce yourselves (New member thread)

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

This week’s question: what SCALE of miniatures do you find most exciting, and WHY?,

Hi! I’m Grant. I do not live in a van.

My commitment: to carry on with the Battletech I have!

    Scale… I love 1:285 or 6mm; but I also like anything up to 15mm. 28mm? How COMMON!?!

Da pledge: Do more work on the broch

Answer: Currently all that is 28mm sized (Yes, that includes Battletech and Bot War as the mechs are 28’ish). But that is mostly due to having never painted anything else.

    Now: Music

    Ok, this is almost spooky.

9:00 am – I decide to pull the trigger on two boxes of Star Wars: Legion stuff that should have been in stock since October but wasn’t because “reasons” from Asmodee.

9:24 am – Order confirmed by F(n)LGS. I take a peek at the Asmodee Germany website and see “Stock en route” as of October 31st. Things just now might roll into shop. Yeah!

9:48 am – Email from F(n)LGS: “The Armoured Clash rulebook is back in stock” DAFUQ?!

Just when I decided to spend some hobby money this happens XD Well, since it’s “only” the rulebook that is in Stock right now I guess I’ll be waiting a bit more until a faction is released I really want 😉

    But talk about timing. XD

    PS:

9:55 am – two emails from same shop: 2-Player Introductory Set and Command and Conquest Deck back in stock.

Now this is adding injury to insult. Or the other way around.

It’s getting older week and I’ve been sitting on (not literally) this box since it was released (it’s a gift for my getting older week)…

And I pledged to Discworld RPG and 7TV Fantasy this week and I will probably have to buy these undead pirates… just because…

    Pirates

And that has got me considering buying…

    Blood

Going to be an expensive week.

Pledge is to fix my ailing One Ring campaign… pledge might be optimistic… hope seems more accurate.

The most exciting scale would be a proper scale like we have in the scale model side of our hobby.
Or failing that a system like the trainiacs like brother Lloyd use.

I’m still not sure if the second character in HO is either the character O or the number zero.

    28mm is not a scale … it’s flippin’ distance.

So my favourite scale would be 1:56 …

@pagan8th Blood&Plunder is cool … but I still haven’t unpacked the bits I got from all the kickstarters they’ve done so far.
Which reminds me that their version of Mordheim (but with pirates) will be heading my way once that’s done too.

Black Scorpion also do a nice range of undead pirates.

This week’s pledge is to finish my terrain fest project by adding snow flock. Probably going to be messy though which is putting me off.

    • What SCALE of miniatures do you find most exciting, and WHY? – I usually do 28mm through 35mm, mainly because these days is playing single player board games. The larger scale works better when painting up fewer models as painting projects.

@limburger I know about Black Scorpion thanks. Got a lot of their Wild West and Pirates already, just not undead ones.

The thing that sold me on the 7TV priates was a monkey and the parrot.

Wayland sold the last of the Blood and Plunder while I was waiting for reply from Firelock. Wayland said that Firelock were no longer supplying cards and I was trying to find out if they did a pdf. Turns out they have an army builder, but that doesn’t look very intuitive.

I’ve put my terrain project on hold as I’m not feeling motivated. I started last week, but the wrong glue ruined the foamcore and it demoralised me. Feel like I need time doing something I want to do rather than working on a project I have no enthusiasm for.

    It is Tuesday

    I think. Not sure.

Did some building last night on the thing I was told I’m wrong but not why XD (I have a suspicion though)

@sundancer maybe you can find some clues at this site :
    https://www.thebrochproject.co.uk/the-big-broch-build/our-design

@pagan8th there appear to be digital cards and rulebooks in their webshop :
    https://www.firelockgames.com/product-category/digital-products/

unit cards are always nice to have as quick reference, but the profiles are in the rulebook too.
Given that they’ve been through hurricane season over there they simply may not have their stocks up to pre-hurricane level yet.

If shipping from the USA wasn’t so damned expensive (and if I didn’t own pretty much everything already from their kickstarters) I might have been tempted. I thought there was a local Dutch webshop that had Blood&Plunder, but it looks like they’re “reorganised” so nothing there.

It sucks because as a system the Blood& … rules are kind of elegant.

    Friday is Weekender time.

today should be a day to do stuff, but not sure what.

Well … I need food, so there’s that.

Still don’t have a good idea for the terrain challenge.

Oh is the unoffical weekend under new management team lol.

I feel like I have been a little distance. I was excited to start the terrain fest and did launch into building kits and getting them primed. However i did not feel like I had much to show in terms of putting in the project folder. I did not want to give much away from the start by showing everything I had built until it was painted. I wanted to outline in series of steps logically what I was working on.

Then off course being this time of year I got the flu so did not feel like doing anything for a week. Lately I was districted by what was suppose to be a small painting project but ended up taking 2 weeks.

However this week I have cleared the decks once again to re-start terrain fest !!!

In terms of scale 28mm. I know it is not scale as such but that size of model. It is not that I dont enjoy playing games in other scales such as 15MM I just dont like painting them. For example in barons war at 28mm I have to paint a unit of 10 knights, 10 levy and the models are more often slightly different from each other. In flames of war I had to paint 40 of the 15mm men, of which they have 6-8 poses o you painting a lot of the same model over and over. For me painting at 15 mm feel more like work a process I have to get through rather than painting for fun.
