Deadly Cryx Experiments Come To Steamforged’s Warmachine

Steamforged Games has been showing off some excellent new 35mm scale miniatures for the forces of Cryx that will join Warmachine's initial wave of releases. We lead the way with the terrifying Iron Lich Commander!

Lich Commander - Warmachine

Iron Lich Commander // Warmachine

Apart from looking super cool (I think that's the case with all of the Cryx miniatures), the Iron Lich Commander is rather handy in your games. Acting as a spellcasting Solo, the Iron Lich Commander can slip through enemy lines, scavenging souls and then bringing them back to your miniatures to boost their attacks. Knowledge Of The Damned is another ability that the Iron Lich Commander can draw on which spends soul tokens to force rerolls on attack or damage rolls.

I really like the mixture of technology and magic that you get with Warmachine as a whole but specifically with Cryx. They give off a proper evil vibe and there's so much space for painters to have fun when it comes to glow effects and eerie schemes beyond the standard black and green.

Surging through the darkness, you can also call on the deadly Night Terrors, scything harridans who will scour the souls of your enemies from their mortal frames!

Night Terrors are perfect for focusing on the damaged miniatures amongst your foe's army. The Finisher rule allows them to easily pick off models that are already damaged and as you might have guessed from their posing, they can do this at a clip as well, flying across the battlefield to hunt down their targets.

Again, the miniatures are looking great and I particularly like the added detail that has gone into the mechanical aspects of these creations. You get lots of gribbly bits and pieces in the sculpt so your wash can pull out all the gubbins in the final look.

Some of the servants of Cryx are shambling mortal frames but others are hulking beasts which have been turned into living weapons. That's certainly the case with the Sludge Thralls and the Mechanithrall Brutes.

The Sludge Thralls are massive undead grunts that stomp forward, spraying their enemies with goo from their Bile Cannons. The leering skull faces are ace and I get a real Bane vibe from the miniatures as a whole. When they get into combat they aren't going to be stopped either as they can also tear their opponents apart with their Ripper blades. Even when the Sludge Thralls die they explode in a shower of acid making them a terrifying prospect to fight.

Speaking of close combat, you've also got the monstrous Mechanithrall Brutes.

Twisted by the necrosurgeons of Cryx, these brutes will not be put down easily. They can soak an immense amount of damage from ranged and melee attacks and then their Steam Fists will smash apart infantry and warjacks alike. Maybe give them some covering fire with your Sludge Thralls and then unleash these brutes into the heart of the enemy ranks.

If you like the look of all of these miniatures then you're in luck as there is also a full Necrofactorium Auxiliary Expansion bundle that you can pick up from Steamforged Games.

Will you be getting these new Cryx miniatures for Warmachine?
