V&V Miniatures has released a couple of 28mm sets for you to snap up and add to Ancient Greek armies in your Historical wargames. We start with their Cretan Archers who will be skirmishing ahead of your army and taking shots at the enemy.

Cretan Archers #1 - V&V Miniatures

The miniatures are presented in high-quality resin and should be suitable for a mixture of skirmish games. Coming in sets of four, these could be rather good for games like SAGA as they build up quite nicely into larger units. You could just use these miniatures to supplement other plastic miniatures though as picking up a lot of resin could be pricey.

Cretan Archers #2 - V&V Miniatures

Each of the Archers is an individual warrior, barefoot and ready to race through the wilderness as adept skirmishers. I like that you have them in different firing poses which helps to place them in the middle of the action and I also appreciate that each of the quivers is a different design too!

As well as the Cretan Archers, you also have these heavily armoured Greek Hoplites.

Greek Hoplites #1 - V&V Miniatures

With spears at the ready and hunkering behind their shields, these folks are ready for fighting in the middle of a phalanx. I love the classic look of the Hoplites that you see in movies, books and TV and this set encapsulates that. You could use these as the bodyguard for your warlord, whichever City State you end up deciding to back.

It would be fun to paint these and get stuck into the bronze on their shields and helmets. I like the idea of going with proper tanned skin for these warriors and bright crests! You also need to either learn some freehand or make use of transfers for those large shields.

Are you going to be picking up these miniatures?
