Tackle The Mountains Of Madness With New Crooked Dice Minis
October 29, 2024 by brennon
Crooked Dice has a whole host of awesome new miniatures for you to get your hands on for the spooky season. Especially for those wanting to dive into a bit of Lovecraftian horror in 7TV with the new Beneath The Mountains Of Madness Feature Pack.
Antarctic Explorers // Crooked Dice
We start with some of the unfortunate explorers who have headed off into the cold. I love that they have all of the recording and excavating kit with them, ready to unearth some secret they perhaps saw in a book back in the library.
If you're looking to head off into the frozen South with all of your baggage then you might also need a Huskey Sled Team. This might also be your only escape option when the terrible things in the darkness start coming for you!
Huskey Sled Team // Crooked Dice
If you're looking to dive into some heroics when it comes to facing down the terrible things that go bump in the night, then you might want one or both of these teams.
Antarctic Heroes 1 // Crooked Dice
Antarctic Heroes 2 // Crooked Dice
You'll see some familiar faces here if you like your pop culture. Make sure you keep that flamethrower handy as burning your enemies to a crisp might be the only way for you to be sure! You could have some great fun painting these up for different scenarios.
These Heroes also get the chance to scarper when the going gets mad thanks to the addition of a Snowcat into the range. There are two of these to choose from which might be slow means of escape but means of escape regardless.
Snowcat A // Crooked Dice
Now that you've got a look at the new heroes, you need someone for them to battle against.
It's Always The Nazis...
As well as the heroes, scientists and explorers, you can also get the Third German Antarctic Expedition which was sent South by Hitler to do all sorts of strange experiments!
Ahnenerbe Troopers // Crooked Dice
As well as the regular Troopers above, there are also some nefarious villains that your heroes could battle against inside a submarine or the depths of a Nazi facility somewhere.
Ahnenerbe Villains // Crooked Dice
The Kommandant needs kicking off a tall bit of scaffolding somewhere so he falls to his death in a very, very over-the-top way. Get these fellows painted up for a bit of a three-way tussle as you have to deal with not just these Nazi thugs but also the eldritch horrors unleashed by their tinkering.
Eldritch Horrors!
You can't have a Lovecraftian tale without some unspeakable terrors for you to face during the finale of your adventure.
Elder Thing // Crooked Dice
These creatures are all limbs and wings and gibbering mouths. I think I might have to take a Sanity Check after seeing these miniatures. I could imagine some unfortunate beefcake getting captured in those tentacles and dragged inside that fleshy body.
Most of these terrible creatures are represented by the Cthonic Aberrations which you could find bursting out of shadowy corners in the depths of a facility or ancient ruin.
Cthonic Aberrations // Crooked Dice
If you were setting up a scenario then you might also want to add in these Cthonic Hatchlings. Make sure that you crush, burn, shoot and/or stamp on these as quickly as possible before they turn into the Aberrations above.
Cthonic Hatchlings // Crooked Dice
Finally, and possibly some of the weirdest miniatures in the range, we also have these Penguins who don't quite look like the ones you see in the zoo.
Albino Penguins // Crooked Dice
Don't feed them anything. I think if you end up giving these folks fish then they might end up mutating into something utterly terrible.
This is by no means all of the new miniatures from Crooked Dice for this particular Feature Pack. You can check out more as part of their New Releases and get ready for a spooky time as Halloween draws closer.
Are you going to be snapping up some of these miniatures?

Well that’s a fun lot of minis!
The scientist with the er “probe” is freaky looking.
Reminds me of Heinz Wolf from the Great Egg Race…
That’ll clear the colon out!
Looks amazing. Needs albino penguins though.
Crazy pink eyes!
there were crazy penguins in the kickstarter for this one …
I’m sure they will be available at retail ‘soon’ as well.
Penguins added – they are indeed part of the range
Ok, who took the concept drawings out of my head?
Well I have to get them, that’s my favourite overdraft tale so it’s a no-brainer for me 👍
Interesting freudian slip there from autocorrect… given its miniatures we’re talking about, most of us have an “overdraft tale” that we ain’t telling the wife about…! 😀
Awesome minis from Crooked Dice as usual.
I could spend all my money at CD and be happy forever. Great stuff, all the time.
Wise Words.
I have to stop myself from even looking at the site!
Although I do intend to buy that Hawk the Slayer set! (I still say someone wants to remake that film and spoil it).
solid hit yet again. their range is so characterful and thematic
