Villainous New Lord Comes To GW’s Middle-earth Strategy Game

Games Workshop has revealed a new Forge World Resin miniature that will be joining the War Of The Rohirrim collection for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game later this year. Meet the villainous Lord Thorne of the Wold.

Lord Thorne was a trusted advisor to King Helm Hammerhand but his ambition has led him down a different route. He has now thrown his lot in with Wulf and Freca and leads a band of usurpers to try and overthrow Helm. I think they've managed to capture that air of nobility in the character and the sinister edge in his facial features. I think the swooshing cloak helps to add to that too!

Lord Thorne counts as a Rohan Hero of Fortitude in-game and can take Traitor Rohan units alongside the Usurpers Of Edoras.

I am intrigued to see the kinds of armies that you can build once you bring Wulf and Freca's Dunlendings together with regular Rohan troops. The bonuses that Thorne can give out alongside those of Freca mean that you're going to be getting up close and personal with these warriors.

There are a lot of new miniatures coming out for the War Of The Rohirrim and Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game this year! Plenty of Forge World Resin supports the new plastic sets and I hope that we get to see a (plastic) miniature for Hera soon as well.
