Catalyst Game Lab’s Been Busy With Battle Tech
May 31, 2011 by dracs
Catalyst Game Labs have been busy lately bringing out a new load of downloadable pdf supplements and even two novels for their Battle Tech game. First of the two pdf supplements available is Battle Tech Era Report: 3062
This supplement focuses on a period of Battle Tech history known as the Clan Invasion and allows player to base campaigns, battles and forces around the time period.
The book serves as an overview of the time period, detailing the notable figures, battles and the technology of the period. This supplement is without doubt a must for any dedicated Battle Tech fan.
Alongside this is the supplement Historical Turning Points Mallory's world.
Mallory's World also delves into the history of the Battle Tech background, although not on as grand a scale as Era Report.
Set in the events of the Third Succession War, Mallory's World focuses upon the animosity between the Great Houses of Davion and Kurita, using the Chaos Campaign rules to allow players to recreate the battles for House Davion's Mallory's World.
The supplements are the perfect way to expand your existing games of Battle Tech, as well as allowing you a greater insight into the background. But if your thirst for Battle Tech narrative has not been quenched than you should turn to the two novels which have been released.
We present Grave Covenant by Michael A. Stackpole,
and D.R.T. by James D. Long.
Both of these novels are now available to download and I personally am considering getting them onto my Kindle as soon as they are available from Amazon.
So what do you think of these? If you have used any of these supplements or read wither of these novels we would love to hear what you think.

But when are there going to be more premium plastic Mechs! I recently picked up the “25 Years of Art and Fiction” book, partly because I love art books and also as a bit of a primer into the overall BTech universe as most of what I know comes from the Mechwarrior games. It is looking like if I did get into the game the Clan Invasion would be my period of choice so nice to know there’s more stuff out there I can get for that era. On the novels (my dislike of reading books on screen and my… Read more »
My favorite time period is before the clan invasion. The Warrior trilogy and the craziness with the Kell Hounds and Genyosha were some of my favorite stories. I’m biased, I’ve played BT since day one and read every book. The very first book sets up every thing that comes after, the warrior trilogy cements the universe. Jumping into the middle, the clan invasion, i would think feels just like Dark Age.
As for the minis, I think the premium plastics feel too big. I prefer Iron Winds metal models.
