The Build
I bought the box as a spur of the moment purchase. I adore the Frostgrave Cultist box and liked some of the Kev Dallimore paint jobs on the Cultists 2 box, but don't actually have a project to commit them too.I used some bowstring pulling right arms because as soon as you take it off of a natural archer pose axis it immediately looks contorted and wrong. Just the type of uncomfortable pose that looks good on zombies.
I kept myself to using only one sprue, just because I like that sort of self inflicted restriction and keeping bits boxes clutter to a minimum.
On just one sprue the zombie heads and limbs start to run low, but the posing will do the heavy lifting and there will be opportunities for the painting to convey the undead side without it all being in the sculpt.
I cut at the puddle bases with clippers but not all the way through, to give me instant dungeon/ ruin pathing slabs to paint up.
Right: An archer arm at an angle will probably become a hand with some gore in. Left: The puddle basing becomes pathing.
Then it was just base with Army Painter urban flock around the pathing puddle bases and prime. Used Halfords Red Primer and a light zenith spray of a flesh colour. Then I went back in with black and then a grey regular paint over the base.
They haven't mentioned "no kitbashing" in the competition, but it isn't a kitbash challenge, so I am loathed to introduce any foreign elements. That said, I did add some snips of clothing tag plastic and dried up paint from the lid of a Blood For The Blood God paint pot into this minis hand. When the super glue dries I will paint it up. Just a lass, enjoying a snack at Halloween in Felsted. What could be more wholesome?
