Order Warlord’s Zouaves & Charging Infantry For Black Powder
October 8, 2024 by brennon
Warlord Games have added two new regiments to their Black Powder collection for some 28mm American Civil War battles on the tabletop. There are options for two regiments that come in Warlord Resin.
Zouaves Regiment // Black Powder
The first of these are the Zouaves who bring a bit of French flair to the fighting during the American Civil War. These colonial light infantry were raised up by the Union and the Confederates in equal measure and there are enough bits in the set in terms of cap badges and the like to make them fit into both armies from the conflict.
Zouaves Regiment // Black Powder
They were used as light skirmishing infantry but would also be drafted in alongside the regular line troops. They might be dressed in flash uniforms but they were a band of fierce and determined soldiers who earned their name as an elite fighting force. You get twenty-four of the miniatures in the set including a Command Group.
A regular band of American Civil War Infantrymen are also available from Warlord Games.
Infantry Charging // Black Powder
Whilst this set represents Union Infantry charging in the images, there's no reason why this couldn't be used to represent Confederate Infantrymen as well since there are enough bits in the box for you to make both. There are twenty-four of them in the set alongside their Command Group and you get plenty of fluttering flags.
Infantry Charging // Black Powder
Whilst a lot of the fighting in the American Civil War might have taken place from range, there were plenty of cases of bayonet charges into the enemy ranks to secure vital objectives. There were plenty of charges that have been marked down as turning points in the Civil War for both sides. This set gives you miniatures representative of those charges.
Both of these sets are available for you to order from Warlord Games for use in your Black Powder games.
Do you like the look of these new sets?

The hands are too large, the heads weirdly proportioned – Warlord does a lot of things well, sculpting is not one of them, unfortunately.
I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure that the ACW range wasn’t sculpted by Warlord but was a purchased range, the name of which escapes me.
I think you’re right – Warlord tend to buy other ranges and then modify them.
Speaking of ACW: SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
Could be useful for the franco prussian war also
The Perry lines are vastly superior, I would go with those for FPW.
Probably more useful for the Crimean War than the FPW, and honestly Perry’s range is probably better for the ACW, etc. in this case.
Very very nice indeed
