GF9 & Thunderhead’s Battle Ready Terrain Now Available
September 24, 2024 by brennon
Gale Force Nine and Thunderhead Studio's Battlefield In A Box-style range of battle-ready terrain is now available for you to both order and pre-order over on their webstore. If you're looking to set up 28mm to 35mm Sci-Fi battlefields then you've got plenty to dive into plus some great options for epic-scale games as well.
Gothic Sector // Gale Force Nine
Leading the way, we have the Gothic Sector which has been designed for your 28mm to 40mm Sci-Fi wargames (see the Star Wars: Shatterpoint miniatures as examples of how it looks at with larger scale miniatures!). Fans of a certain big real-time strategy game from back in the day will most likely be very familiar with the look of these terrain kits.
Gothic Sector // Gale Force Nine
There are a whole bunch of different Gothic Sector terrain pieces which are all fully painted and ready for you to plonk onto the tabletop. What's really nice about this stuff is that feels like a nice departure from the standard ruins you end up seeing and it helps that it gives off those Dawn Of War vibes as well.
There are nine different sets for you to dive into and they all look great. They are also well-priced for fully painted terrain and I am very eager to try and snap some of it up for my tabletops. I am hoping that this is going to be readily available in the UK.

If you're playing games on a smaller scale, you can also get yourself some great terrain as part of the Mundus Imperium collection. This would be perfect for your 6mm to 10mm battlefields so would suit Legions Imperialis in particular.
Librarium & Censorium // Gale Force Nine
All of the Mundus Imperialis terrain is currently available to pre-order and much like the Gothic Sector in heroic scale, this is all fully painted and ready for you to use on the tabletop. Once again, this will be seriously helpful for getting your tabletops ready to go without any hassle.

You could maybe slap on a wash and some extra weathering if you wanted to try and ground the terrain a little bit but I generally think these should be fine without any extra work. If you're someone who doesn't like having to paint up your terrain then spending a little extra on these sets seems like a no-brainer.
Will you be checking out these new sets from Gale Force Nine and Thunderhead Studio?

How much Dawn Of War can we fit into this? – Yes!
surely the cease and desist is in the post already
I wouldn’t bet on that. War Scenery has done these sets as STL files on kickstarter (currently as chaos version) and they seem to be fine. I’m guessing the design is not GW own but from THQ and they are defunct and don’t care. Neither seem the current rights holders of dawn of war.
