Salute Ain’t Goin’ Anywhere Folks! [Update!]
March 4, 2015 by brennon
After a weekend of people wondering if Salute 2015 was going to be the last at the ExCel and pondering on it's future we've had confirmation that Salute isn't going anywhere and it won't be leaving the ExCel centre anytime soon either...
Update: Statement from South London Warlords...
THE SOUTH LONDON WARLORDS AND SALUTE
The South London Warlords would like to reassure gamers and traders that SALUTE will be held at Excel for the foreseeable future. We operate on a rolling contract with the management at ExCel and, as such, we are committed to running SALUTE there in 2016 and beyond.
SALUTE, we are pleased to say, is a thriving event and continues to grow every year. Each year, The South London Warlords aim to improve the show and hope to give both visitors and traders a great day out and provide gamers with a chance to see the best the gaming hobby has to offer.
This year’s show is looking to be even bigger than last year’s. We have over 100 participation and demonstration games for you to look at, plus well over 150 trade stands for you to visit, along with the internationally renowned SALUTE painting competition.
The South London Warlords hope you will enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and have an exciting day of gaming at SALUTE, whether you are a veteran gamer or someone looking to start in the hobby.

...so, never fear! Some members of the South London Warlords got in touch to tell us everything is hunky-dory when it comes to the venue and continued events for the foreseeable future.
In the mean time make sure to study that poster above and come along to Salute 2015 where the theme is going to be Agincourt! It's great to see some medieval stuff going down and don't forget we'll be there covering the event with Live Blogs AND the big participation game for the Battle of Hoth. If Warren and Lloyd ever stop fighting over AT-AT colours that is...

That’s a mighty relief 🙂
Great news this year will be my first Salute glad it now won’t also be my last
Ditto. This will be my first gaming event like this since UK Games Expo about 5 years ago. Can’t wait to see what Salute is about 🙂
(fist pump)
Phew
Mightily relieved. 😀
Brilliant news long live salute.
Glad to hear Salute will be remaining. What I dont really get is peeople fascination with it
Its a one day show. For me I would rather spend the same amount of travel money ans have a more relaxing weekend at the 2 day Derby show. I day for gaming second day for shopping with nearly the same traders I would want to visit that are at Salute
And not being completely wrecked at the end of it all
There is an energy at Salute that is very special.
And we’re there @torros adding a bit of overweight glamour to the whole affair 😉
@torros what Derby show are you talking about I’m a bit new to the hole gaming convention side of things.
This one

Its held at Castle Donnington now but people of a certain age ( i.e me) still call it Derby
This is pretty much what I was alluding to in earlier comments, you, @torros are probably like me in that you have quite tight resources to apply to hobbies and there comes a point when in this current socio-economic climate, that one has tighten the belt by opting between what, including shows to visit, to spend these limited resources on. This concept seems to be a little difficult for some to grasp! I also agree with Warren, when he says that Salute is a great show to go to, and if I don’t make it this year, health reasons may… Read more »

Anyone in particular, @phalanx58?
I think its a shame that NI doesnt have any decent shows. Sadly over the years talking to traders the cost of getting across the Irish Sea with a van load of stuff is just too expensive for them to make it worthwhile
Good, I’m pleased to heat it. 🙂 I can’t afford to go to the other events as I’d rather most of my money went on the event itself, rather than all the travel and accommodation expenses on top of it.
Phew.
Haven’t been before so really looking forward to it this year! Not sure what to expect
I’m also only a couple of tube stops away from the excel so if anyone needs a hand setting up I will be more than happy to help
Be prepared for mega shiny syndrome. Second thoughts don’t even try nothing will prepare you, just enjoy.
Thanks mate. Don’t worry I will enjoy
Whatever ‘budget’ you have assigned to the event, you will need to double it at least! Not a negative, but there is so much ‘eye candy’ you will not be able to help yourself! Last year I spent £200 at 4Ground alone! Oh! my poor credit card!!! ; )
I totally agree! You literally cannot have enough money to spend at Salute because of all the cool stuff there. You might set yourself a limit and say you can only spend £X, which is fair enough, but you’ll wish you had more!
Cant wait!! Bringing more people this time to tackle the awesomeness. Warren’s right about the atmosphere. Better than any other I’ve been to (Colours, Warfare, Games Day).
Is it just a showcase or can you buy stuff there?
You can buy a LOT of stuff there.
In fact, that’s the reason a lot of people go. Some other conventions are better known for display games, or for tournaments etc. Salute is BUY BUY BUY 🙂
There goes all the money then.
Will be there with our demo game…
you should think about some merchandise, t shirt or badge or someone, so we can recognise other BOW members at salute?
And the world is back in order 😉
Salute cant go anywhere, ive yet the chance to go!
I’m still awestruck after 2014, roll on April!
Great news!
Good to hear, I’m planning my first trip out from Australia in 2017 and I was basing it around going to Salute.
The balance between Darkness and Light, Chaos and disorder has been restored.
Going to be going to Salute for the first time this year, can’t wait! And will be looking out for this Hoth game!
I am hoping to make it this year after a not being able to make the last few.
Cannot make this year, but determined to make next year happen
Huzzah, and thanks to the guys for all the effort they put in each year.
Good to hear, I wonder what caused the original speculation, Chinese whispers? A bored journalist?
